Will D1 Steering Wheel fit 36 Spline D90?

Posted this on the "other site" to no avail. Hoping that there might be more expertise here.

Does anyone know if Disco 1 steering wheels are 36 spline? Found a non-airbag D1 wheel that is currently on a Defender (same wheel as the one in this photo). The person selling the wheel cant count accurately but is sure its not 48 spline.
Anyone have any experience replacing a standard 36 spline Defender wheel with a D1 wheel?
Thanks in advance

I would ask for some pics of it off the truck. Because it has the horn integrated into the wheel it MIGHT have a slightly different mounting mechanism. Usually wheels with that have something called a clock spring. Or it might be the same and just work.

Man that's what I need for my D1. Not sure of the spline count, but don't worry about horn wire you can get by with just a coil of wire down the tube, as that might be?

I actually submitted an offer on that wheel. Sorry, if I buy it out from under you. I couldn't get any straight info on whether it fits. So, figured I would make the offer and take a chance.
If I get it and it does, I will let you know. If it doesn't Roverman, it will be for sale to you if you want.

I guess I should say, I am guessing it is the same one you are referring to. Zak can't seem to count. Not really surprised.

No problem. I have a nice wheel now so can live without this one. I just figured that if it fit it would be worth buying and hording. He told me that the spline count is somewhere between 32 and 40. If he was in a rush it could easily still be 48. In his defence it is a hassle to count those splines after a few beers. Let us know if it works though since there are a few of these on Ebay UK fairly cheap (x-shipping)

From what the UK sites say, a 300tdi disco steering wheel will fit on a series truck. A defender needs the 200tdi.

I just hate jumping on something and then finding I was competing with a board member for it. As you said though, it's all good either way. I just figured I would take the chance and it can sit around til someone needs it if it doesn't work.
Definitely no dog in this fight Roverman. Just saying, if it doesn't fit, it's yours if you want it for what I have in it. Assuming he even accepts my offer. I always start low with him and 9/10 we meet somewhere I can live with.

That appears to be a RRC wheel which I have have read are 36 spline. Do your blinkers still automatically turn off after you turn? I seem to remember reading that you loose that with the RRC wheel swap.

I suspect that Vermonsters research is probably accurate: the "200 tdi" wheel and this RRC wheel will work. But the D1 300tdi probably will not. If it worked someone in the UK would have posted about it.

For the record the Disco 200 Tdi wheel works with the turn signal cancellation perfect on my Defender.
I don't have a picture of mine (Brown) but it looks just like this one in gray. http://landroverusedspares.co.uk/Discovery-1-200tdi-Beige-Steering-wheel for 25 pounds

Yes, my turn signals automatically turn off. I had to move the ring that was on the back of my original steering wheel over to the RRC wheel though.
