Towing a 110

It's hard to find advice on this because everything directs you to towing with a 110. But I have to have the 110 towed from NJ to VT. My dad is planning on returning from vacation south of us so we were planning on renting a uhaul hauler. He has a '12 V8 F-150. Uhaul doesn't like the combo, yet they say their 10ft truck can do it. Is there any real problem with towing a 110 this way? The alternative is using our own 18ft enclosed trailer, but that is a lot more effort.

Is it a flatbed UHaul trailer?

I've trailered my 110 twice on a 12ft trailer. Just lash it down and tight and it will be fine, the backend will be hanging off a few feet.

Yeah definitely a flatbed. They have the 2 tire straps but I would probably add some straps to the rear to help keep things in place.

I ran into the same thing with Uhaul. I needed to tow a 110 with my 3/4 ton 4X4 Ford and do not have my car hauler any longer. I can drag 15,000 lbs all over the country but, they told me my truck wouldn't tow it. Obviously that is the stupidest thing ever. I just rented a trailer from someone else. I wasn't even going to sit and argue with them. The manager there even told me I should just go get one elsewhere because they have the charts set up to make you rent a vehicle to tow with from them.

That's what I just ran into. Their 10ft truck can tow it, yet an F-150 can't? Towing capacity of the truck is 8,000 and I estimate the 110 plus their trailer is 5.5k. Just a money grab.

Unless anyone has a problem that I can't see, I'll just tell them I'm towing my Subaru, they had no problem with that last time. Only a 1k pound difference.

I towed my 110 from FL to Burlington VT with a Ford Expedition with no problems. Just get the bigger sized U-Haul car trailer and you will be fine. Oh, when I have rented them in the past I just tell them it is a Jeep YJ I am towing and they say nothing.
