Texas Members, What to do/See in Waco Texas?

So we will be traveling to Waco for an 'accepted students' college tour with our Daughter in March. Other than the Magnolia Farms Enterprise, is there anything noteworthy to do or see in the area while we are there? Good places to eat, etc?

My wife and I were trying to poke around on Youtube the other night, and were not finding much encouraging, seems to be a fairly run down, higher than average crime area? Hoping our findings are wrong?

Appreciate any feedback, thanks..

I live in Dallas and spent some time in Waco for a consulting project about 4 years ago. Unless it’s changed much since then your findings are probably correct. Besides Magnolia there’s the historic ”downtown” area where most of the non chain restaurants and coffee shops are. I don’t remember any specific restaurants but that is where my clients would take me for lunch. You can probably see everything a few hours.

My buddy David Koresh runs a little cult club down there... not seen him in years. I heard we was sort of burnt out on Waco though... so he may have moved on.

Its pretty sad that most of us only know Waco thanks to Koresh and what happened there. If you are looking for some fun, take a drive out of town and go visit old George Bush on his ranch in Crawford. The Secret Service will be glad to give you a warm welcome.

Id say the Baylor basketball scandal is a strong #2

Fun fact: Waco's sister city is in S. America. It's called Jonestown, and the drinks are free. Swing by if you're ever down there.

Waco is a typical college town. Not much for the parents to do but probably a good place to send your daughter.
Waco is a bit like Hartford, Conn.
Waco is an hour and a half from Dallas or Austin the same way Hartford is from NYC or Boston.
Good that its close to either, bad that its an hour and a half from anything.

Twisted root burger is pretty good. There is the Dr. Pepper museum and Texas Ranger museum.

35 is mess of construction and traffic.
