Spare on the bonnet?

What are your thoughts on a second spare on the bonnet? I already have a spare on a rear swinging tire carrier.

Go for it! Juts FYI it bloks most of the air for the front vents

I have had both. I like the looks, and can't argue with an extra spare on long treks. But, it's a pain to get down and makes the bonnet heavy as hell. Plus, if you get the right frequency of washboard road it will make the bonnet jump up and down 3". I have had to slow down and get it out of sync again because I was certain it was about to rip the bonnet off. And, it's generally hard on the bonnet on regular bumpy roads.

So, I have given up and mine resides on the back carrier now.

Ive got a 35x10.50 on the hood. I can see over fine!

I am also 6'3, so ymmv!

Sucks! Blocks view especially when on trail going up and over an obstacle and as someone mentioned makes your hood heavy as hell. Looks great but functionality wise no bueno.

That’s a good point. I’ve caught myself a couple of times wishing I didn’t have an collection of iPhones, gps and iPads stuck in the lower portion if the windshield.

That's how I roll....

I added the rear spare tire carrier and I'm too lazy to remove the bonnet one.

Have several miltary bonnets stacked up where the steel underhood frame is cracked and broken from a 7.50 x16 on the hood

Yeah, mine is cracked. Had to put a 2X4 on the engine and do a British panel adjustment by pushing down on the front to get it back up after I took the spare off the bonnet.
