register trailer with bill of sale only (PA)

Anybody have any experience with this? I'm keeping my ear to the ground looking for a cheap utility trailer as my (SW) 110 doesn't make a very good pickup truck.
I'm seeing from time to time seemingly good ones with "bill of sale" only. I'm not naive but is there any point is a sale of this type at all to actually LEGALLY use it?

I've had a few friends register trailers in PA, and it can be a real pain without a registration. One guy built one of those aluminum Yakima trailers, and the State rode him hard until he made changes to it. With a bill of sale, maybe you can simply get it inspected and registered if everything looks legit. That's my very limited experience.

Your best bet it to go to a PA tag agency and ask your question. They are the ones that do it, so they should be able to tell you how.

tohickon tags out our way here is the easy button for me with the last 4 defenders. they fear no title drama. but as stated, i would imagine without a title will be a PITA.

Now that the Vermont loop hole has been closed, its almost impossible to get a Title with just a bill of sale. PennDOT will not decide an ownership claim, that's for a Judge to decide. Once you have proved its your property, then the Judge will issue a ruling which PennDOT will accept.
I used the Vermont method to Title two motorcycles that came with just a Bill of Sale. No more. Too many people took advantage.

Why not just Uhaul when you need one? I sold all my equipment years ago, but held on to one of my dump trucks for personal use and it sat in my driveway 360 days of the year. Now I just rent a uhaul trailer when I need to do something that my bad ass mini van cant handle.

actually not a bad idea, except they always hate non-"normal" vehicles...

The tractor supply is landscape trailers are not terrible, with some upgrades. But I agree with Nick, u hauls are legendary.

Once your rig is wired up for U-H trailers, the next times are easier.
Home built trailers are pretty common so DMV's are used to creating trailer titles from scratch.

I have the 4 way -> uhaul adapter, but I guess I could also make a euro 7 pin to uhaul one pretty easily

I have a nice 12' utility trailer for sale, cheap $1000.. super clean, gorilla lift cable system so you don't break your back lifting the gate up. I'm in Mass though. It was my dad's, I have a 10' and a Sankey so it's surplus to my needs. NYS reg and title..
