You can see by the pics i have some rust coming through the passenger side footwell on my 110 ex mod. What would be the most economical way of repairing? Thanks and appreciate any insight

Well since this is original foot panel it's two layers. You have the inner and in the outer layer. It seems like most of us is actually in your outer layer. You can just cut it out and put in a patch and then scrape the inner layer clean after removing it it's probably glued/bolted in place.

I would thoroughly check the pinch weld scene that is on the vertical side of the footwell that goes up the a pillar and check the sil that the bottom floor bolts to on the outer edge of the floor .

Both of these areas are common rust areas as well and you can probably knock it all out at once.

Agreed. I'd get that to bare metal and cover/coat in your favorite phosphoric acid then decide on if it's worth a patch, or just a rust coating or wax.

I cleaned mine up, preped it and used POR15 in a tube for the crevasses and seams and regular POR15 as a top coat. Also, helps to switch outta those wet boots after duck hunting... :giggle:

I am going to second the POR Patch, POR 15 recommendation. Just know that it is a bitch to get off, especially if you are going to repair with new panels later.

If it were me (and it has been me in the past), I would take the entire area of rust and cut it out. For areas with surface rust, I would grind it off until it was at bare metal and if it was deep, I would go deep until it was 100% not visible unless of course you are looking for a temporary fix. It is the only long term solution--get rid of it completely. Converters will kill the surface for sure. And in light rust conditions, it works pretty darn well and I have/do use it. But that is not what you show--what you show will continue to spread. If it is light surface rust, converter and sealer will do very well for a long time. Potentially permanent. But I have never seen rust stop when it is as advanced as yours. It may take a little time for it to work around the converter and patch, but it is growing like cancer. Remove it or it spreads.

Thanks Mountain D , decided to bring to a local shop and they are going to remove it completely , figure this would take more time than i have to repair.

YRM is soon to release theirs, properly stamped to match OE. RN has had them for a while as well.
