New Factory Defender:

Everyone always knew the old Series trucks were underpowered, but it was part of their quirk, and no one cared much.

But then the Disco and RRC came to the USA, and it wasn't until the last year of production on a vehicle that had been available for 14 years, that they finally put the engine in it that it should have started with. The 2004 Disco II.

So I guess we shouldn't be surprised when JLR takes the stupid to the next level. The finally put the engine in it that it should have had.... before they ended production: https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/new-cars/original-land-rover-defender-returns-399bhp-v8

They are probably all spoken for already. They won't depreciate, so no reason not to buy one. Most will never be driven.

Yes. That is the main reason for the endless delays. They needed to wait for the factory to be built.

I visited Europe last month for work and holiday and in the three countries visited Bulgaria, Italy, UK I saw only four (4) Defenders!
I saw a nice mid nineties D110 in Sofia a 90 in the mountains outside of Amalfi and two really nice 110's in Downtown London. That didn't count the 3 90 military trucks in Rome guarding buildings.
I saw so many Range Rovers, RR Sports, Discovery, Discovery Sports and more Evoques than you can shake a stick at in every city we visited. I mean hundreds of Land Rovers of every model throughout Europe except Defenders.
Defenders are rare in the US and elsewhere based on the 3 weeks I was on holiday. I'm sure at this price they will sell quickly but they must be putting all of the Defenders into bubbles in space or something.

I mentioned the same thing a few years ago after two weeks driving around the UK. Very few Defenders. I didn't expect them to be around EVERY corner, but I figured I'd come away with about 2x as many pics as I actually got: https://www.flickr.com/photos/bhcmbailey/albums/72157670377387941

Looking at your pictures reminded me that whole time in Italy I never saw a Ferrari or any other "super" car. Lots and lots of Fiat Panda's in Italy but the first day in London I saw 458 and a McLaren 570 and it was raining that day. Gotta love big cities!
