New Alternator source

I may have stumbled into the mother lode of alternators for old rovers!
These are factory new with warranties and no core charges!
Massey Ferguson.......Who knew?? Mini—i guess that makes a little since....
It’s amazing what you can find when you look around!
All are A127 chassis alternators

This is what I used on my truck, cheap and plentiful, yep its a tractor alternator but the cross ref indicates they are the same.

Only difference I found was a threaded bottom bolt hole, You can drill it out or keep it provided you have a fully threaded bolt and you ensure it is tight against the lower mount.

this is also nearly a "direct" fit. you have to take the front case half off and rotate it to align the mounting ears in the LR locations. and swap to a vbelt pulley.

You do not rotate the case for a 200TDI Defender, which I "assume" is the point of this thread. The larger case alternators do not fit on a Defender 200TDI due to space limitations.

What brand alternator did you end up getting? I did the Bosch one and it only lasted two weeks before it died.

i got a bosch, been in there since i made that post...we had a local guy go through two of them as well... a standard ALX massey 70 amp and one of these.

Quality across the board for all replacement parts is really poor, its luck

Personally I have this. https://www.lrdirect.com/DA1195-200-Tdi-Defender-Alternator-Up/ I've had it for 5 years. Zero problems. Definitely has a lot more output than the 70 Amp genuine unit it replaced.

that kit actually was the inspiration for when i started looking for the alternator locally. at the time the exchange rate wasn't favorable and the shipping was $

I found the part number on a picture from an ebay sellers listing for a marelli unit that back traced to the YLE #
