I hate everything fake. That's what this is. @mpatters I wish your business well, but I don't understand your customer at all. At that price-point they can buy a leaky defender AND a few year old Wrangler...
At least when someone says "Nice Jeep!", they'll be accurate.
I am not anti-Jeep (literally just sold one yesterday) but Yep.

I don't mind talking to people, I just hate people telling me bullshit stories. I used to have a 65 Mustang and everyone has a Mustang story, some of which are lame, many of which are untrue, and the vast majority are both lame and untrue.

And my sympathy to the creator, but I don't understand the application of skill and resources to build this. Though misguided, I understand a Ferrari kit for a Fiero, or a Bentley kit for a Chrysler - at least those are trying to fake exotic and luxurious beauty. This is like putting a Peugeot kit on a Toyota or a Honda kit onto a Hyundai. It's just one normal vehicle grafted onto another. I'm baffled.

Hi Guys, I'm the one who built the Jeep / Land Rover. I'm sorry if my comment upset you. My 1977 Toyota FJ40 is not a daily commuter for a long commute (I.e. over 30 minutes) nor is my 1992 Mercedes 250 GD. It would just be too noisy, to slow, etc. The Defender for many people like you, I'm sure it is fine as a daily commuter when traveling over 70 MPH for 30+ minutes in rain or shine. Thanks for watching my video.

If you look at the video in post 10, it proves that driving highway speeds is achievable with the right engine under the bonnet and the steering and suspension in order.

I am no jeep expert, but the few I have driven grossly understeered that it was scary.
So personally don't see the rationale.
Yes a stock 1985 110 with a worn out 4 cylinder diesel is not going to accelerate fast enough for 80MPH highway driving, but to make a blanket statement that all of anything is not capable of something is just being stereotypical.
Now that that's out of the way, apology accepted and the best of luck to you!

Exactly. Just because you can, doesn't mean you should.

I'm the one who built the Jeep / Land Rover. Thank you for commenting. It took me several months of trail and error. I absolutely love driving it, so much fun when someone approaches me and asks about the vehicle.

Going back to the OP, if you are going to do the front end, you might as well get the "alpine window" rear top kit (which they call "Safari top") as well. Someone in the town I used to live in had one (not sure if it was this particular brand), and actually looked pretty good:

This.

Why not back date the JK to something like the Jeepster Comando bullnose? Keep the Jeep heritage but have something different than the run of the mill JK look.

There is only one reason on that list of 14 that makes any sense to use a modern Jeep over a Defender: lack of air bags and ABS. Like Robert said one of the many engine swaps will keep a Defender up to highway speeds. Overall suspension architecture is the same as a Jeep JK (coils with straight axle). If he was concerned about safety why would he want the windshield down and the doors off anyway? I think one of the benefits of a Defender is you can run half doors that give a lot of open air space but keep things inside. Older Defenders have hinges on the windscreen but I would imagine it's a pain in the ass to fold down. Beside one of my favorite things of a Defender is the dash and the ability to run the vents open which sends through a lot of air to the cabin.
