Hello all... Its been a while...

When I reinstall the rear shock mounts on my 110, can I:

1) Just bolt them up and torque them.

OR

2) Put a load on them like the suspension parts and then torque.

Thanks in advance!

You can do either, I've done it both ways. They both have their challenges

With bracket attached to shock -
Pros
Dont have to worry about getting the shock angle right to slide shock on
Only have to slide 1 bolt in to keep the shock compressed
Cons
Getting the one bolt in can be tough, and getting it through both sides of the chassis even tougher
If re-using original brackets, you have to remove 6 bolts

Without
Pros
Far less work
Cons
Have to compress shock without much surface area(if a high pressure shock, can be a pita without a jack/lift)
Angle has to be right to slide shock on

Here are the shock mounts bolted up and torqued to 47lb ft (per '83-'92 manual). These are the originals that I had sandblasted. I'm keeping this truck stock. These early trucks don't use flanged bolts, instead using a bolt/washer combo and a lot of lock washers and nuts (vs nyloc). Although I had the shock mount bolts replated, they we a little to rough for this application. I'll let everyone know how the shock install goes.
