Crescent wrenches…brand?

My household 8” and 10” Crescent Wrenches have taken a walk. I need to buy new ones. I still have my 12 and 14” so I don’t need the big ones (that’s what she said! 🤣), and didn’t know if there are some better than others. If you know, I’d love to hear.

Snap on current production is the same as Bahco which is made in Spain.

The same manufacturer (I think it Irega) makes a lot of them, although the style is different from the Bahco. Channellock is the low cost provider, but you get the exact same wrench from a lot of other high end brands.

Also note that there are additional variations such as wide opening, reversible jaw, and thin jaw.

You don’t see many 8in, but this is what I would get (it says 8 and 10 but it is 6 and 10)

Here is the 8in bahco (in chrome)

I also have some Milwaukee which are chinesium, but they seem pretty nice and have a bigger adjuster which does not seem to back off. I can’t say I have used them enough to say they hold up.

My Snap on are USA Made, but then again they're over 20yrs old, I wouldn't spend current day $$ on Snap on now. I have USA Made Crescent brand also. I think I'd go with Irega if I had to rely on one all the time, as it stands I hardly have use for one unless it's straightening out some metal, or installing my welding tanks, but I do usually toss one in the bag in case I'm lazy and in a rush or can't find my hammer.

The Bahco looks good but I'm not much for the rubber handles on everything these days, hard to find a quality plastic handled screwdriver set.

Truth be told I don't care where they are made, as long as they perform and feel like a quality piece.

SK have held up well also

I ended up ordering Kleins. the SK looked nice, but Some reviews shred me away. my mid size is a Klein and it’s been great doing a lot of heavy lifting over a couple decades. Seems neary All are pretty friggin similar.

You will like the Kleins. They are Irega or whoever is making them in Spain.

If you don’t need PZ, the Williams set is nice. It’s the same as the old school snap-on hard handle. The only Williams PZ are the comfort grip style.

I really like PB Swiss and they have PZ (all the way to PZ4). The classic and multicraft are plastic something (smells like vinella [sic]).

Heyco has some nice acetate ones too. But I would get PB Swiss. Their slotted are the best. Here are four slotted and PZ 1 and 2.

Multicraft which is a bulged handle and textured, you need to go to a PB Swiss dealer to find.

Not sure why you want plastic/acetate, but something that is easy clean is wood handle and you can get wood with striking cap (Felo, Wera, Wiha etc.).

PS I have bought probably 1000 screwdrivers over the past few years. I use about a half dozen of them, but I like how pretty they all are so that’s that. Haha.

For “Crescent” wrenches, I use and recommend Channelock’s eloquently named “WideAzz” series, with comfort-grips. If you want traditional bare metal, Bahco is the recent classic, but either Channelock or the original’Crescent’ brands are fine; truthfully, most any of the Irega-sourced wrenches will serve you well.
