Ceramic Coating - for the paint

All- did a search here and it looks like we don't have any info on recommendations for ceramic coatings for the paint jobs. My defender is faded in some spots and polishes right up - while I'd love to tear the truck down and start a proper re-paint, that's just not in the cards right now. I'd rather focus efforts on getting the mechanical/structure/creature comforts done this winter without the risk of rushing a paint job or scratching one up while I do some mods. If I can buy another two or three years prior to a new paint job with a ceramic coating, that would be great.

I've never applied a ceramic coating to anything, and looking for product recommendations or any tips/tricks/pitfalls. I have all the equipment to do the polish and decontamination prior to applying.

Thanks in advance for the assistance.

I use Griot’s Garage ceramic spray product. Sounds like you know the routine. The key is decontaminated paint before doing anything. The ceramic spray is really easy to use and the paint certainly looks good plus actually sheds dust. We live on a dirt road so that helps.
From my use it enhances / protects the paint you have. For sure better than typical paste wax. Key is durability. It lasts longer. However once again, the paint on which it is applied has to be clayed, etc. for a good result. Certainly less expensive than a professional ceramic application and for an “older” Rover more than sufficient.
Hope this helps. I use Griots on all my vehicles. Good stuff.

I have 5 year Ceramic Pro on my RRS and QX80. Now when the trucks are dirty I can get the cheapest car wash and they look brand new.

I haven't decided if I am going to get it on my 110 yet though.

As long as you use a cleaner product before you apply the ceramic coat you should be fine. I used Meguiar's cleaner wax after a good wash then applied their hybrid ceramic wax with great results.

Good point. I clayed the Rangie paint to remove old wax, etc. and then applied. Worked great on the paint. Using spray Ceramic.
On the D1 compounded / polished the paint and had to then clay it as there was stuff left on the paint that the Ceramic didn’t like.
Each product has their protocol.
