There is no intermediate latch position, the window is either open or closed

Yes, the latches do appear large but they do not protrude any further into the cargo space than the widow trim and maybe a bit less than the trim. A word of caution if you are thinking of of ever returning a NAS D90 or NAS 110 to stock there is no going back after you install these windows.
