    Catastrophic water pump failure 300Tdi

Fortunately I was at a Maverik station getting fuel when I noticed all the coolant pouring out. The core bearing was being pulled out of the water pump and the pump vanes were grinding away the housing interior. Here's why. The center of the belt tensioner has a ~2" diameter plastic ring facing...

In need of a picture of inside of fuse box lid

Lost my underhood fuse box cover for my 1997 NAS Defender 90. The factory obsolete part number is AMR5710. Could someone here take a picture of the inside of the lid and text it to me ? My number is 775-742-0723 Not sure if the '94's or 95's are the same or not. I need the info printed on the...

2019 National Ralley @ Ouray, Co.

Like everyone says, I'll be difficult to find a place to stay for a few days. I attended this event with them in 2014, beautiful country and the run down Blackbear Pass to Telluride, and back over Emogene and back to Ouray is not to be missed. Called the Ouray KOA on May 1, 1st day they were...

300Tdi Vacuum Pump leaking oil again

The original was made by Wabco, but so was the 2nd unit that seized up. The current unit is another brand made in Turkey.

300Tdi Vacuum Pump leaking oil again

I have my original and 1st unit still, so its the perimeter seal that goes bad around that cover plate ? (seems to have about 7 or so rivets holding it in place)

300Tdi Vacuum Pump leaking oil again

These pumps seem to be nothing but problems, I'm on my 3rd unit, the 2nd one failed (froze up solid) in less than 100 miles and now, the 3rd, like the 1st, is leaking a lot of engine oil and making a mess. Has anyone converted to a stand alone, 12VDC electric powered vacuum pump ? How many...

    NAS Roll cage

Was going to say, if it's a true '94 NAS, with a horizontally split rear door, it is a POE edition. Probably one of the rarest NAS Defenders, don't know that I would modify it from original.

    Swivel Ball lube questions

I run the oil. It's easier to change out, if the seal is bad, it'll show. Mine only leaks if i run 'er hard for an extended amount of washboard miles, then it just a spot or two and stops when I get back to pavement. I changed a leaking seal out years ago using the method told by the gal who...

    Portable Air

Using CO2 is only a "quick" solution to airing up, in 1 week you will loose a minimum 5 psi as the gas leaks through the tire rubber, eventually it will all leak out. You'll have to let it all out & do it right with atmospheric air eventually. I use a Viare continuous duty pump, be sure to get...

    REI Deal

When they, REI, came out last year as dropping companies that make gear for our Military, the producer of Camelback was one of them, I sent them back my REI card that I got back in 1974. As many current and ex-military as there are here, I'm surprised ANY of you would buy from them. PS. REI...

    300TDI Rolling failure no start

Had a heck of a time, even with an air impact, getting the Alt. pulley on tight enough (I went through 3 Alt's AND pulleys) so it wouldn't spin on the shaft. These newer Alt's don't have a key/ keyway to keep them in place. They are held in place by the nut's pressure only. Be sure to paint...
