I wouldn't have a problem modifying a POE to either a ST or a true SW. Before I bought my SW I looked at a couple POEs and was concurrently looking for the SW internal roll bar to add.
My truck was well outfitted by the original owner so my modifications have been relatively small - swapping to stock gearing (from 4.11) made the truck much more drivable on the highway.
I did just install a leather wrapped steering wheel and it is a huge upgrade.
Seems like there are tons of green 97 SWs still out there.
I realize they made more green SWs than other colors.
Obviously not new info, but according to LRFAQ page 97 SW color quantities:
341 Green
326 White
209 Blue
102 Red
Thanks for the maintenance tips. I'll definitely give the winch and line a once over this spring. I've pulled the line out and successfully rewound it this past summer though it wasn't under load.
While on the subject - does anyone have/recommend a cover on an ARB mounted winch (xd9000)?
LR Max, could you please elaborate on this? Do you recommend putting the truck in neutral and pulling the truck itself towards the pole? Also, are there any special lubricants or techniques to keep the winch and line (synthetic) fresh?
