I bought the new 110 with the idea that I would put the dormobile roof on it. Long story short I have had a series dormobile roof and interior for like 20 years and got a 110 roof cut for the top. I have all the parts (bunks, seals, new canvas etc.). I figured it’s now or never. I even fished the roof out of the corner of the garage. But the 110 has a camel trophy cage (rare, not sold in this spec anymore, seems to have been fitted very early in its life). Frank thinks I should keep the cage. Looking at it, there is no way to make both work (which is what I was thinking when I bought it) I have front outer fenders to eliminate the cage holes and I suppose I could always swap back.

Anyway, letting the people decide.

Sell the castle, buy new 110, install Dormobile top, have castle on wheels.
I don’t sell anything which is really the problem. I mean the solution is to buy a 109 or another 110 obviously, but at this point I need a warehouse for vehicles (and parts especially because I just spent a bunch of money with Zack this am including “every screw on the bulkhead of a 92 110, genuine because I like pozidriv” and $400 for the stupid fan switch on my LWB, but then to save a couple bucks I bought the scratch and dent rear crossmember and scratch and dent rear bumper ….).

Owning a camel trophy Mundo Maya truck was a dream for me. However, I learned quickly that it was built for a specific purpose. Every change I considered, I opted to keep it stock. Great trail truck, but crappy sleeping truck and not many ways to improve on that.
The good news is that, you have two awesome choices! Having a good sleeping truck and family truck won out in the end. I switched to another defender platform and couldn’t be happier!

Not me. Dormobile suits me better. Look, we are all getting older, and I want to use and enjoy my crap. I am not relying on its perceived market value for my retirement and if I had a truck that I otherwise loved, I’d do that for sure. Been debating an alucab for years. Id bet you can get a great $$ for the cage alone if you’re patient enough. But hey, I like wheeling and camping.

This is why you can't go wrong. It's fun to work on & change these trucks.
Besides what are you going to do when there is nothing left to do?
Ha. That is a problem for my estate. Even with a significant staff (which I don’t have) I will never finish what I have now in my lifetime.

It’d look sweet with a dormobile top. I know you know, it’s inevitable. I SEE YOU. It’s…a….disease.

holes in 2nd seat floor, holes in rear tub, holes in front wings, holes in front portion of roof. will have lots of fresh air and water for the dormobile. :ROFLMAO:

You forget who you are dealing with. The only holes that matter are the round ones in the back of the rear tub (easily fixed with plugs) as I have new wings (without side marker light holes) and the new 110 roof for the dormobile roof and a spare middle row floor.

May be difficult to get the new wings to match in white.

I think the answer to your poll should be driven by “How do you want to use the truck?”

It has multiple colors of white on it already

:)

Rattle can alpine white looks close enough for me.

As far as use, she is a mall crawler.

If I was just going to drive it around occasionally I'd stick with the cage. No holes, no paint, less weight, looks good, safer.
