Default 97 Defender and Disco I Shifter Update Parts FS

Safari HP has manufactured NAS 97 and Discovery I Automatic Shifter Tape and Shift Indicator Strips which are part of BTR9926LNF.

The shift indicator tapes are manufactured of UV stable materials and allow the lighting to illuminate the numbers and letters much like the original tapes.

The tape is cut with a self adhesive 3M backing tape

Easy to install without taking the shifter assemby off.

$12.99 for the Pair

The Shifter Slide is manufactured again of a durable UV stable material and visually duplicates the original shifter slide once installed.

This part does require disassembly of the shifter to gain access of the slide tray. Perfect fit

$29.99 Ea

That's something we've talked replacing ever since getting our D1, and now it's available.

Nice!

Had not realized these were not readily available, Get a complete new shifter ea time I buy an Ashcrofts console kit.
Guess thats why its called blissful ignorance.

Are these the same side strips as used on a classic?

No, the Classic strips are much shorter(and square on the ends), only about 90mm long.
I already checked...

I did an extensive write up on the "other" 90 page a few years ago on the REASON these things wear out.
I live in the desert with lots of "grit" and was on my 3rd replacement in my D90. I'd thought the grit/ dust was the cause, it wasn't. The real reason these wear out is due to the "burrs" on the plastic housing that the film slides past or on.

ALL points of contact were sharp or had mold flashings that cut into the sliding film with use. After sanding/ filing all these points smooth as possible, I then used carb/ brake cleaner on a "Q" tip to further polish the rubbing surfaces of the main plastic shift body contact points.
My latest shift body and film has lasted for at least 7 years now.

Nice.

It's almost too bad that I have a good one sitting in the garage from a junk yard, waiting to be installed!
