1965 Land Rover IIa 88"
History This was the first Rover I bought in 1999, and I swear I had maybe changed the oil on my Pathfinder before jumping into Rover ownership. I found it online, for sale at a decent $3900, a few hours drive away. It had been sitting in a barn in the back yard for 12 years.

The owner had never registered it, but he pulled it out and made sure it started once or twice a year. He was a "Jeep Guy" but the Rover had belonged to his best friend who, when he died of cancer, had bequeathed it to his Jeep Guy Trail Friend. So the original owner, who had bought it off the boat in Seattle, was still on the registration. Technically, I'm the second owner.

I used it to get to a different job as a substitute teacher every other day or so for four months. It never let me down.

But when the transmission went out, I had to stop driving it, since we were too poor to afford a fix. Then I looked and saw and I knew that a Series Rover was not practical for a growing family. So I sold Green Rover to a local enthusiast who took very good care of her.

...Well, of course I bought her back five years later, I'm not stupid! So technically, I'm the fourth owner.
Currently running with the soft top, but I have the standard hard top in storage.

Stock, but for Defender seats and a Jeep bench seat in the back.

Suspension, Wheels, and Tires
7.5x16, Rocky Mountain Parabolics.

Brakes have been upgraded to a dual power system, still running drums.

You're truck was my laptop wallpaper for a long time... the perfect tropical looking IIa in my mind. One of the first results on google images when I started the affair with these things. Dying to see it with the hard top on.
