Wheel and tire combo help!

I have been looking everywhere but it seems the more I look the more complicated it becomes. I have a 1986 90 with OEM Rostyle wheels. I'd love to fit 285/75 r16 BFG tires onto the wheels with a 1.5-2" OME lift. Does anyone know if this combination is possible? Will the early rostyle wheels accommodate a tire of this size? Will they rub at full lock? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I've attached a pic of the truck

Rostyles are 6 inch rims.

BFG officially ok's 285/75-16 for 7.5 and up rims but as we all know there are many people running them on 7 inch rims. But six inch....there has to be a point where things just don't work out. I think Rostyles would be that point.

My advice not on Rostyles.

I ran three sets of those tires on 6.5" rims on a 3/4 ton GM truck. They were an -acceptable- fit, but not great. The deformation in the carcass was evident and led to some uneven wear at the corners. Same wear front and rear, so it wasn't a suspension issue.

I'd hesitate to run them on a 6".

First step should be to toss the Rostyle wheels. 285/75R16 is a pretty wide tire and looks silly on a D90 IMO. A better size is 255/85R16 or 235/85R16.

Struggling with the idea of getting rid of the Rostyle wheels, for whatever reason I love the look, just hate how much it limits my options. would the 265/75's fit on the rostyles or too wide? Do I even need to lift to fit those?

Spring lifts have nothing to do with tire fitting. The wheel can still travel the same amount as before.

265/75 should be fine on those rims. You want and aftermarket 7 or 8" rim for 285/75, both due to the width and getting suitable offset. No stock rims have the correct offset for a 285.

Thanks for all the helpful replies, Do you think the 265/75 tires would hit the body work on bumps and off road without a lift? Do you think the white defender in the photo above has a stock height suspension?

265/75 are stock sized tires and will not hit anything.

Once again, a lift does not increase tire clearance.
