Default Td5 clock wiring- purple wire

I removed the Td5 clock from my dash and want to use the wiring to illuminate my center pod. The clock had 3 wires- red, black and purple with brown.

I am assuming that red is power, black negative and purple constant 12v so the clock wouldn't lose time.

For illuminating the VDO gauges I am planning to use the red and black. Am I correct that I can not use the purple?

Thanks,
Alex

Purple - constant power.
Black - negative
Red - Light

I would upload the wiring manual, but the forum only allow VERY small files.

You should buy one of these. It will make your life much easier when doing 12v electrical work.
