Reverse Clunk

Truck makes a slight clunk in reverse when I release the clutch, hit the gas and begin to back up.

No grinding or difficulty in shifting gears.

What's about to break??

LHD 200Tdi / R380-stumpy / 1.6 LT230

How do the splines on your drive flanges look?
How much play in the drive shafts?

Check your A frame ball joint for play.

Will do....though that was replaced less than a year ago...

Same clunk here. Ball joint replaced < 1000 miles ago.

A certain amount of clunking is normal. With an R380 I wouldn't be surprised if input shaft ware was contributing.

How old are the mounts back there? Check those and the driveshaft play.

A manual gearbox and gentle foot help minimize the clunk.

Jury is still out...worked most of the weekend, so didn't get a chance to check things out. With what time I had left, I did this instead:
