Hey everyone, figured I would post this here as well, a good friend has decided to part ways with his California Range Rover Classic. There are good guys here that know what this is so I know he will get interested people that ask good questions. Mark is a real car guy and represents his cars well. Please contact him at the phone number listed. Mark will not respond if you ask questions here, he doesn't frequent forums. He prefers a phone call from those that are serious. Ad and pictures follow:

So I have decided it is time to pass on my 95 RRC.

The Mosquito is a 1995 Range Rover Classic. Beluga Black, I believe it to be light stone interior. Approx 154,000 miles. Custom roof rack, custom rear tire carrier, new 16x7 steel wheels, 285/75 R16 Yokohama Geolander M/T, 2 inch Rovertyme springs, 2 inch body lift. Etc, etc, etc

My goal was to build this RRC for my fly fishing and camping adventures. I removed the larger half of the rear seat and built a platform in order to provide enough space to sleep in the back. I added a small cabinet in order to permanently organize fishing supplies. It has turned out very nice and is extremely functional for my needs.

The original 3.9 had issues I was unaware of when I bought the truck. It ran poorly. I installed new head gaskets and it still ran terrible. When I pulled the heads it was surprising how clean the internals were. 2 dead cylinders and leaking thru the exhaust valves. The heads had previously been improperly rebuilt. Once repaired the heads were reinstalled only to find the block had been compromised with porosity issues. The front seal would not properly seat leaking copious amounts of oil and bubbling air back thru the expansion tank. The decision was made to find a used engine and replace the existing 3.9. I was able to locate a 1995 LWB 4.2 with approximately 700 more miles than my truck. Roll the dice and hope for the best.

New front and rear main seals were installed, gaskets, a bit of clean up and installation. I guess the Rover gods were smiling down on me as the new 4.2 ran very well. More sorting as I dialed in the RRC. Many new parts have been added as I have tried to make this truck mechanically sound.

I am interested in passing this RRC on to someone who will complete the journey. I am selling because, as cliche as it may sound, I have space issues and other projects (64 109) I would like to tackle. If I were not moving on to another Land Rover project, the sale of the Mosquito may be much more difficult.

The Mosquito starts, idles, runs, drives, steers, brakes, rides extremely well. I have taken this truck on a a number of trips and the only issue was on the most recent when the fuel pump was acting up. It was running poorly but did not leave me stranded.

Lets us start with the needs:

Windshield is cracked
Headliner sags ( what a surprise!)
A/C needs charging
Sunroof seal will need replacing (not leaking just worn)
SRS light is on
One dome light cover is cracked
Paint is average for a 23 year old black vehicle in the So. Cal sun
Some small dents and dings but nothing major. (again 23 yrs)
Drivers seat bottom cracked, both front seat bottoms sun bleached
The rear hatch has begun to rust and although not leaking and structurally sound it will need consideration in the future

The good:

Great running 4.2 Burns almost no oil between changes.
No leaks
Fluid change Oil, T-case, Diffs, Coolant, Power Steering

Many new parts:
Radiator
Coolant hoses
Expansion tank
T-stat
Fan clutch
Coil
Ignition amplifier
Plugs
Injectors
Idle control module
Wires/cap/rotor
Fuel Pump
Fuel filter
Recent NAPA battery
Front/rear main seals
Windshield washer pump
Rovertyme 2" springs
2" body lift
16x7 black steel wheels
285/75 R16 Yokohama Geolander M/T ( less than 2k mi)
Brand new 285/75 R16 spare
Kenwood stereo with speakers
Old style Con Ferr roof rack
Custom rear tire carrier with spare gas can rack

And?...I am sure I have forgotten something.

Door panels, dash, interior are in very good condition. I have all the interior pieces, cargo cover rear seat etc. so if one is inclined to return the Mosquito to more of a stock configuration it can be easily done. Original wheels, rear bumper, and tons of extra parts.

What works: Headlights, taillights, wipers, washers, windows, sunroof, door locks, heater, fans, speedo, tach, heated windshield, rear defroster, seat heaters, 4 wheel drive High and Low range, Electric front seats

Not working: Cruise control, A/C needs charge, Front headlight washers ( Hose tee is broken),

I am a Rover enthusiast, I try to have ANY vehicle I own leave my hands in better condition than it was recieved. I would prefer to sell the Mosquito and all parts as a package. Not interested in selling off the extra parts at this time.

Wonder if spare TWR wheel could be had separately...

He has four of them I believe. He has told me he would rather the parts go with the sale but if there isn't interest he might sell parts separately. I will post here when he has made that decision.
