Help on 97 autolock and starting

1997 D90 NAS.
Stripped interior to replace carpet. Had to undo the transmission lever mount.
Reassembled, started the car and it would not move out of park. Switched it off, went to restart and nothing. No click, nothing. Electrics all ok but not turning over, any ideas?

Also, when I had my '97 console/auto shifter torn down, I removed that pin from the safety solenoid so I can't get locked in park ever again.

Just a comment on removing the interlock. Removing it makes it so the truck can be started in gear

Even in the '97's which I think are all automatics.

If so when you start in in gear, what happens ?
I've never started an auto in gear, only P or N.

What pin is that?, Easy to remove?
On the autos, the solenoid is mounted to the side of the shifter box.
The pin just projects in, and prevents the shifter handle from moving.
I just happened to slip with a cutting wheel and *removed* the pin. :D

Very obvious when you take it apart.
These solenoids are notorious for failing on the shifter and the LT230.
