I've only driven one for a short period of time. Holy crap it is AWESOME. When you get on it, it'll put you in your seat. Also the vehicle, overall, drives like a dream.
For modern diesels, they want load and heat. If he is going to drive it around town, idling all day long, then he is going to have problems. But if he gets out on the interstate and maybe even is towing some, then it'll be happy. Think of it as "italian tune up".
But so far so good on these. Don't put junk diesel in there, pay mind to the warning lights and change the fuel filters at regular intervals.
