So, I bought my 94 Defender from a guy who had an engine fire right after he bought it. I know you're probably thinking oil cooler lines but I think it was actually an electrical fire. Anywho, I thought this to be a perfect candidate for an LS swap as part of the rebuild process since everything in the engine bay was toast. I used a galvanized frame that I had sandblasted and powder coated. Im using all Nick Markiw stuff for the engine swap. So far, so good. Enjoy the pics.

More progress pics

I took it for a drive just up and down the block. If you haven't had a chance to drive an LS swapped Defender I highly recommend it. Only problem is you gonna want one afterwards. It has so much power it's unbelievable.

Nice work on the restoration. Looks good but that lift looks a little severe. Looks like the steering might be a little squirrely with that driveline angle.

There's no lift, just Terra firma medium springs. It just looks like it's sitting high because the wheel flares aren't on it yet

Your rate of progress is incredible! I tried to buy this truck when it was for sale. I don't think I've made much progress on my rebuild since then. Great work

I too am doing an L9H--I just received my engine and have sent the harness out for rework. That looks really clean!

Love it!!!

What radiator did you use? Looks like it has plastic tanks so an OEM one?

Why did you go with that engine? I am currently trying to decide and am overwhelmed with choices

The L9H is a 6.2 rated at 403hp. It has a lot of low end torque. I found one with the matching 4wd tranny so i didn't have to convert the tail housing and it already has the right oil pan. Nick's pics of how to install it with the intake manifold reversed worked really well too. If you use the camaro LS3 you'll have to put a truck oil pan in and convert the 2wd tail on the tranny to 4wd. Nick sell a bracket for the truck engines to move the alternator and ps pump to the right spot to avoid hitting the steering box also.

Yeah I didn't notice a lift either. Such a clean build and it looks like you know what you're doing. Keep the pics coming!
