I thought the enchiladas were part of the awards ceremony for my NAS-ROW technical excellence sticker.

Hopefully I can make a stop in the Little Apple some time in the future.

That was a good story.
I cant wait for part 2.

Did you schedule an oil change during your trip?
5200 miles is beyond my comfort level for oil...

We actually were planning on doing the North Rim, but it doesn't open until mid May IIRC. I had actually bought maps and had some camp sites planned out but someone missed that minor detail until mid-trip.
I will admit I didn't even know about the straw, but now have an absurd Xmas gift to add to the list.

Mid-May is what they list (15 May). Tuweep is on my short list of places I need to go.

Still, looks like a great trip-thanks for sharing.

I thought about having it changed in Las Vegas, but decided against it. I was running the full synthetic Pennzoil 5w40 that we use in the Maseratis and it still looked clean. I also was thinking about ordering a coolant temp sensor, but never did. I've never gone more than 3,500 miles between oil changes as long as I've had this truck.

Those are some low mile intervals for synthetic. Have either of you ever sent the oil out for analysis? I usually run between 5-7k miles on conventional or semi-synthetic in all my cars (barring the series 3).

Oil is free for me. I only started using synthetic when I switched to Maserati and started getting that. Otherwise I usually run the conventional Castrol 5w30. If I do mostly city driving I can hear valve train noise at start up which I assume is from the oil diluting from idling so long. I live about 5 miles from work and that is a 30-60 minute drive.
