I lost my key to the cubby box and want to see if anyone’s has a latch/lock, top, or whole cubby they want to sell. Looking for OEM not aftermarket. Needs to function and have keys. Thanks

Hello there,
First post on this forum. A little late on this post, however... As you I have been looking for a new Cubby Box lock. I even came across a website selling them for 280USD. Capitalism at it's best.
So I thought I'd share...
If you unscrew the lock assembly from the cubby box and then unscrew the lock part from the assembly, you can then pull out a split-ring and separate the lock parts. Once done you can access the lock cylinder itself and play with the sliders. Possibly even remake a key for your Cubby-Box lock. The Key blank is the same as the Door key just the grooving is the opposite [SILCA FOT3]. It's also the same as the Golf (1983-1987).
However I just took all the sliders and springs out of mine and will probably use it like that (with the tip of my door key). I mean if someone gets as far as the Cubby Box and has Evil Intent then they will open it anyway, what with the flimsy lock assembly and all. Also one of my springs was bust and deformed sor I couldn't repair as I wanted. If one day I come across a spring (and indeed some time) then I will try and repair it properly.
