Does anybody have a solid wingtop "vent" (non-vented) lying around? I'm trying to get clever with my engine heater's plug by using something like this https://www.amazon.com/NOCO-GCP1-16...ywords=flush+mount+plug&qid=1668445618&sr=8-5
used is good... as I'll likely destroy it trying to make this.Interesting idea. Part #AWR2216 or AWR2217

Somebody (used to be Garrison Outfitters maybe?) makes a little locking box that fits in the wing vent cavity, which would be perfect for this application--just drill the bottom of the cubby insert for your cable pass-through. I've seen people mount their onboard air-compressor fixtures there too.

Honestly I can probably route the cable to either side.i may have one, but you need for RHD, correct?
This would be what I’d go with most likely: https://www.stone4x4accessories.com/defender-110.php
That's really nice, but its way overkill for that I'm trying to do though... Honestly I have storage in my 110 that I don't even know what to do withI've got one. Shipping out of ZA is steep, but it's a nice product.
Bit of a tangent, but I wish someone would make a reverse scoop that increases the flow of hot air out of the engine bay.
Just do a perforated cover---I am running SDO's but stock plastic works too (https://www.seriesdefender.com/wingtop-side-vents/wingtop-vent-standard-rightside.html ). Then heat just escapes. Any airflow moving over vent just utilizes the Venturi effect and pulls more heat out. No need to invent something there, IMHO. If you wanted a ram, then put one down low blowing upward...albeit to the detriment of a clean engine bay... Or a scoop that helps push air down into the bay. Personally, I think open would be the best idea.Bit of a tangent, but I wish someone would make a reverse scoop that increases the flow of hot air out of the engine bay.
Yes, good point. The 2 plugs is a good idea in theory, but in order to not power on both I'd have to pop the hood and plug in the heater separately each time. Are you trying to mount the NOCO plug vertically on the wingtip vent? That may cause issues with drainage of water/ice accumulating inside the plug over time. I mounted mine like this..

I would also recommend the kit with two female ends, so that you can add other accessories i.e. trickle charger, oil pan heating pad etc..
For sure, It just gives you more options for future use. It gets quite cold in the winter here (AK), so we always plug in block heaters, battery pads oil pan pads in different combinations.Yes, good point.
