Where's the best place to get a quality synthetic winch line these days?

I've been selling/using marlow lines for several years, I have it on my Husky now. Huge fan, little pricier probably because it has the name, but great stuff

I actually got a cheap winch line from smittybilt. It's worked well for me and I bought it through Amazon but this was years ago?

I'm still using a Smittybilt winch line I bought 5+ years ago, but it is due for replacement.
I might get something from these guys:
Master Pull Synthetic Winchlines
They have 3 different specs for all their sizes/lengths. I do like the option to go without a hook; they offer a rubber line-stop instead if you choose. Hooks seem a little redundant these days with the popularity of soft shackles.

I bought an Amsteel Blue line with a yellow Excel hook from Custom Splice at a very reasonable price. They took forever to actually deliver the product and I think other customers experienced delays as well. I never got the vibe that I was being scammed, but they definitely were not very communicative. Now that I think of it, I had been in contact with the owner (one man shop) and needed a winch rope for a trip to Vermont. He sent out one of their Diamond lines with just a thimble hook as well as a few soft shackles.

I would definitely buy from them again, but not if I was in a rush.

It would be fun to learn how to splice rope. I've been watching a sailing channel where these guys spliced their own lines for their anchors. I'm guessing it's not terribly difficult.

It looks incredibly easy. I've been meaning to make two extensions out of the line Custom Splice sent me to hold me over.

The video I watched didn’t require any special splicing tools, just some electrical tape

This guy shares a few tips, like how to reduce internal chafing on the rope. He seems pretty knowledgeable. This feels like a fun thing to practice on a long Zoom call.

Looking at the prices of raw Dyneema and Amsteel Blue line, it doesn't look like you're saving much money at all. The DIY route seems to be the way to go if you want a hook that's less common (thinking Factor55).

If it's not a big yellow hook, does it even work?
