Another I thought of for the Rover V8 is water pump and timing cover gaskets. The cardboard aftermarket ones often don't even survive shipping. If they are folded at all they crack. Genuine ones are super flexible and great quality.

I’ve run into this a few times now. The aftermarket oil pressure switches don’t work. They either false trigger, don’t trigger at all, or leak.
