What have you done to your DEFENDER today?

I got those two backing plates into the rear cross-member quite easily. It's an NAS truck but it's on a new (painted) galv frame - so it had all of the holes and relatively easy back-side access to get them in. The only challenge that I ran into is that the bottom hinge bolt is too long to fully tighten (or even close to fully-tighten). It runs into the NAS rear step. I could have inverted the bolt if I had thought about it prior to securing the lower bracket. Probably going to cut about 1/3" off of the end of that bolt to allow it to fit without contacting the step.
ah, I have strengthening ribs that were in the way

Small in comparison to most, but a first for me. Made a plate to mount a Tuffy center console instead of using wood runners. Works perfectly. Just need to reinstall some rubber grommets I found to reduce some vibration from the metal on metal.

I installed a new Rocky Mounts swingaway two-bike carrier this morning in the rain (apologies for the lame photo). I've never used a hitch-mounted rack of any kind before, but this one seems quite solid. I used Rocky Mount's 8 inch extender, and in this folded up position it just barely touches the spare. I wasn't able to test fit the bikes today, but fingers crossed there's no interference.

I promise I folded the step up before drove away.

As a side note, driving around near Union Square in Manhattan today, I saw four new Defenders (3x black, 1x white), had one woman stepping into an Escalade smile and say, "sweet car," and had another woman lean out the window of her Subaru on 6th Ave to snap a few photos of our 110 scream, "That's our dream car!"

Should have taken a picture. But I just recovered a mini that got stuck in a drainage channel across the street from my driveway. Little old lady driver.
Soft shackle around a rear suspension arm and a quick easy tug with a neighbor behind the wheel.
First time I’ve ever recovered a vehicle without leaving my driveway. As you can see from the picture. Conditions were treacherous for the mini.

Not today but 2 days ago..
Finally got a slot at Select Paint in Pompano to address a few blemishes and desired changes.
Eyebrows are getting shiny, Rear body edges are getting finished after being started by PO. The rear roof vents were removed, welded shut and smoothed. New Puma door is going in with Optimil Hinges all around. The 1988 roof sides were swapped out with mid 90's white sides so I don't have the little extra metal strip that was present on pre 89 models. This will allow the Panoramic sliding glass to be installed.

Every modern car has vents like that in the rear to prevent the cabin from being pressurized when the HVAC fan is running. Early defenders had them in the roof. I wonder why Land Rover decided to eliminate them.

In 1997, toyota was testing the new FJ100 land cruiser. An engineer placed a rabbit in the SUV, he came back in three days and the rabbit was dead from asphyxiation. That is how tightly the vehicle was sealed. Hearing of this test, the BMW engineers (the then owners of Land Rover) tried the same with a fresh off the line Defender 110. The engineer placed the rabbit in the SUV, he came back in three days and the rabbit was gone.

PS I thought the vents were actually to prevent over-pressurization when you closed a door.

I took my steering wheel off. Thanks to some suggestions in various threads and youtube I was able to get it off. Now I understand why my turn signals "might" have been turning off after only turning the wheel only a little bit.

Upgrading some switches on the dash and putting a new steering wheel on.

The car seat saga continues with my now 15 month old growing out of the her infant seat. I think this ended up working out pretty well considering. Ex-moor replacement buckets (previously swapped in) + a Diono 2019 Radian 3RX seat (which in theory should be the last seat she'll need) + an aftermarket LATCH adapter so that the rear tether has something strong to tie into. I covered some exposed metal on the seat (used when forward facing) that might hit the passenger and driver's heads if there was an accident with foam. I'm really happy with how secure it is, no wobbles at all.

Back from a quick run over to VT and trails as the solo Land Rover surrounded by Jeep’s. Two of them were Ecodiesel powered.
I’m never complaining about under hood access ever again. These things are packed.
Really happy with the way the new Allisport and electric fans worked

Finally I'm done the way I like and please my wife as well.

-Added some led light and swapped out all interior's lights to led as well.
-Swapped the stock steering wheel to Optimill Quick Release Boss and 14'' Momo-Lita steering wheel.
-Changed the battery to a brand new OEM of Odyssey 2150 along with a set of military connector.
-Added a Noco marine Gen 1 battery charger into the battery box.
-A new rebuilt Wilson 100amp alternator, make a huge different than a 24 years old alternator. It feels like a brand new car, I don't know why.

Here are a few photos:

So ABS comes on all by itself while driving at low speeds. Tackled my ABS “two amigos“ issue. (In a Defender with ABS and TC its only two lights unlike the dreaded three amigos in a Disco) . 🤷‍♂️ Changed the shuttle valve and lo and behold the issue is still there.

Upon further investigation the valve block is leaking onto the shuttle valve which means a rebuild (or renew). Good thing I have a Traction Control shut off switch installed so I can drive with normal brakes. Took about an hour or two but time well spent. First time ever my 110 has failed me still drivable and safe.

You probably have two issues going on. The abs coming on at low speeds is usually caused by the sensors being backed out.

I bet you could use a D2 abs modulator
