New side window.

Add a side rear window. Landy is righthand drive and i was having a hard time see out the left side. Found two rear windows on CL, installed the Garrison window kit and cut one into the left side panel. Not sure if ill put the right side one in. Sure enjoy being able to see left and back.

New wheels

Decided to try on a set of Modular steels with the black rivets while i restore the original limestone rostyles. Might keep these on a little longer than expected :D Their offset is a bit wider than the rostyles making the stance a bit wider as well. The tire doesn't press up against the rear carrier anymore because of that though. also thought Id try white lettering facing out for a change. Little bit of mud and they match the limestone roof. Also installed nakatenenga rear door gas strut. Well worth the money!

Been meaning to get a rear door strut. Where did you pick that one up? Any drilling? Also considering the Britpart DA1204

Picked it up on eBay, you have to make sure if you buy one 3rd party it is the newest version, it keeps the door open at 90 degrees and holds it there on very steep inclines. Also opens the door automatically when the handle is lifted. Have to drill 2 holes in the steel rear door frame. They are small and hidden by the door card and accommodate 2 heavy duty rivets. Personally i'm never a fan of drilling anything, especially in my FJ40 for the sake of originality but this was such an immense difference in the way the rear door operated that it was well worth it. I noticed as the door swings open the plate attached to the wheel well that holds the gas strut bends the aluminum of the body slightly. Wondering if there was even an OEM support bracket that attaches on the exterior or if I need to make one.

Worked on building the "new" trail rig till 5 pm Friday evening. Pushed the clutch in for the first time, backed it out of the shop, pulled it up on the trailer and hauled ass to MAR. Nothing quite like showing up for an event with an unfinished project for your initial test drive of a new build.
Need to wash the mud off and finish putting it together. Logged about 100 miles this weekend and she's a beast.

Congrats! What engine and transmission do you have in it?

Didn't get quite as much done as I wanted. I had to cut my working time down by a few hours before I even started. The fuel tank was a PITA to get in. The PO installed cheapo polybushes and the metal sleeves rusted to the bottom link arms and took a lot of grinding to carefully remove. At the last service, they must have used some PTFE tape on the rear diff fill plug, then installed it too far, so it was getting clipped by the carrier. So I pulled the cover and checked everything out. Minimal damage but changed the oil and cleaned everything anyway. I found some very thin metal pieces, almost like a torn up shim washer. It was jammed up by the bearing cap on each side. That's a project that will have to wait (no plans to drive it before then).

New shocks, springs, galvy mounting plates, bushings, ball joints, engine mounts, brake lines, fuel tank, fuel lines, 2 stage filter and new bolts for everything. Still need to get the correct trans mounts.

Sorry for the sideways photos, site keeps flipping them.

Killed a 96 4.0 gems 5 spd disco to build it. The engine and injection used in the 97 NAS 90's, but with a 5 spd.
Forcing Trey to learn to drive a stick. Everything else around here, including his 110, is an automatic.

Put the britpart one on the trail 90 we just built. Works great. Install requires two 3/16 holes for rivets on the door frame lower rail.

Nice looking 90 :thumbsup

Sorry to derail but it looks like it fits that landscape trailer perfectly. No need for ramps either?

Sharp eye. Truck makes it look small. Thats actually a 16.5 ft deck 12k lb rated dovetail car trailer. I have moved 10k double cab 6x6 perenties with it (which are 9 inches wider than a stock D).
The damn 10 inch wide, deep offset Safari Gard rims make the truck so wide I measured it and have less than 2 inches between the side rails. You have to be perfectly lined up or it won't load as there is no turning the tires to correct.
Yeah, not pulling ramps to load this girl.

Thanks for the info. I assumed it was a landscape trailer as I didn?t see the dove tail. I like the rails as it gives another point to attached items to but probably makes it tricky to walk around when loading/unloading. I?d love to get a trailer but no place to put it.

Can finally charge my phone

Can finally charge my phone in this thing. This was a fun one. Radio blanking plug was from UK a few on eBay and the cigarette lighter, 2 USB inputs and voltmeter were from amazon. Switch from auto zone. Nice Saturday afternoon project. With wires and connectors and all parts was around $100 but definitely worth it. Always had my radio mounted in the dash so had this big hole in the tuffy. Glad to make use of it

Fixed shock

Tracked down a strange rattle and found a front shock bushing dissolving. Replaced and found I had forgotten what a good ride felt like.

New Shift & Diff Lock knob

Got tired of the plastic shift knob constantly coming off so replaced it and Diff Lock knob with some quality knobs from EPOC. Very happy with them!

I?d like to get a set of those. Do you have the link?

http://www.epcoshiftknobs.com/

I dealt with Jessica. 508-533-2741. Just a note for what I did...Both knobs are 2" round, gloss finish.

I have the LT85 transmission. The shift threads where the knob screws on are 1/2"-20.

My trans box (transfer case LT230) Diff Lock knob is M10x1.5

As usual, somethings are metric and some are standard, keeps it interesting.

They took a few weeks to get them to me since the Diff Lock is a custom job but well worth it to me. Outstanding quality. Paid about $100 for both of them. Maybe you'll get lucky and since they just did the Diff Lock design for me, they should still have the design and you'll get a break on price since it is a custom order. My invoice number was 41271 if that helps.

Let me know how it goes
