Vacuum Oil Extractors?

I bought one of the lesser expensive ones off amazon that I manually pump and holds I think 9-10 qts. It's been a great purchase from my perspective.

I bought one back in 2013 or so for my LR4. It's the same as the BluePoint (Snap-on resale). Seems to work well even after the years. I also use it for sucking oil and coolant from a drain pan under a generator where I can only fit a too small drain pan; it has no problem keeping up with the fluid draining from the oil pan or radiator.

I had an air powered one and ended up selling it, it was extremely noisy. A neighbor has the harbor freight pump operated one and it much more bearable.

When I did use it it was primarily for brake jobs not oil extraction.

I have something sort of like this: https://www.amazon.com/EWK-Pneumati...17213506&sprefix=vacuum+oil+ex,aps,232&sr=8-7

And it does work, but there are a few thing to know: It is slow. So I set it up, and get it flowing, then walk away for half an hour. And I can't seem to get it to work with any Rover engines (3.9, 4.0, 4.2, 300Tdi, 2.25) as there seems to be some kind of corner to turn, or some bit blocking the hose from getting all the way down into the bottom of the oil pan. I have used it on the BMW and Mercedes, which is good, because getting the oil out otherwise on those cars would be stupid hard from below.

I have this one. I bought it specifically because of the size (15L). The LR 5.0 V8 has a 10L-ish sump capacity and most are not large enough to handle it. It also has the option to use compressed air for drawing the vacuum although its not really needed.

As with any of these its very helpful if the oil is at least warm while extracting.

I'm very happy with this one after using several others and would definitely recommend it.

I bought this one back in 2011 just to do oil changes on my wife's LR4. At the time, I thought it was going to be a one trick pony tool that would only see use a couple times a year.. Since then, I have used it to change oil, hydraulic fluid, and transmission fluid from my boats, tractors, and other vehicles. It's a very versatile tool and makes fluid changes a lot cleaner experience. I went with the manual model because I can take it places where compressed air is not available.

We exclusively used the air powered ones at the dealership. Most people put rags around the exhaust to keep it quiet.
