UK License Plates

I have a 1989 exMOD 110. I would like to run matching UK License plates from the same year. (I will still run my state issued plate too).

Anyone have an idea where I can find them? Plates from 1989 would be preferable but I'd be interested in any year.

Thanks

As an Exmod the MOD plate it had is more valuable imho.
Officially there are multiple controls over the manufacturing and supply of the standard Uk style number plates. Then you have to figure out when in 1989 it was first registered..they didn't go by calendar year....
There is also an active market in vanity plates.

Luckily, I have the correct front plate that was on it, it's just missing the rear plate. Maybe I'll look at getting the year plate made to match the numbers/letters on the front. Unfortunately, don't have the exMOD plates.

I got a $280 ticket for having my European plates displayed along with my current and properly displayed Washington state plate. Ended up going to court over it and the ticket was thrown out by the judge. None the less it cost me a lot of time and stress at a time when I truly didn't need the hassle.
So be careful running EU plates with a state plate.
Might just be an issue with the Washington State Revenue Department (previously known as WA State Patrol)?

Being a 1989 the correct colour is white front, yellow rear. All UK plates are also reflective, typically plastic/acrylic

I'm not sure if he is after a UK civilian number plate or a military plate , which would be black and white (silver?).

In 1968 the White/Yellow was introduced and ran alongside the Silver/Black for five years (1973) until White/Yellow became mandatory.

There are no special colors for Police/Government as we see in the US.
MOD plates are silver on black background. The rules were updated recently to allow any civilian car first registered before 1/1/75 to display silver on black.

So it ain't as cut and dried as it once was.

There are a myriad of services that can supply the matching rear plate for you.
Most any garage in the UK can supply plates- ie the Government doesnt provide the plates as they do here in the US. Its common to break one (plastic) especially in the front, and have to get a new one for MOT. It is also very common to find a second british yellow plate in civilian trucks. This because trailers arent registered and are required to wear the plate of the vehicles pulling the trailer.

I bought a set several months ago (went aluminum because, well, why not) and they required a v5 cert and bill of sale with my ID.

Mine are legal UK plates, I suppose reproductions wouldn't matter either way.

Also you need to ensure the state plate is illuminated or you could get pulled over for that, otherwise its basically a nonsense plaque to most police.

I am pretty sure they actively avoid me because they don't want to deal with my truck with UK number plates haha

I agree as far as originality goes a MOD plate designation for this would be cool to show the military linage. I had the POs local shop make a set of legal civilian plates for my Tith (it was registered in his name just before shipping).

Eitherway, as NPT90 says, 'basically a nonsense plaque', so I'm sure a repo to match the front will be and look just fine.

Thanks for all the replies.

The original UK plate is still on the front, the rear is missing. The front plate is a white background with black numbers and letters. The first letter matches the year of the 110.

I have photos of the 110 when it was still in the UK with these plates. The rear matching numbers plate, while it was in the UK, is yellow with the same black numbers and letters, not the white back ground like the front.

Thanks to the prior post with links, i found a company in the USA that will make the replica yellow plate that is square.

Is this normal to have two different color plates with the same information?
