Tub side sound dampening

Has anyone found a reasonable way to kill rain/rock sounds that come from the underside of the tub? It was obnoxious in the 2012 110 SW demonstrator we had, and it's even worse in my 110 soft top. Not sure what the move is there, but would love to get something to kill that

I just sprayed the bed liner underneath the vehicle , when I did my full in and out and under bedliner job. Worked great

So you no longer hear the rocks or the rain shooting up against the bottom of the tub?

Dynamat the tub. I installed mine on the backside of the rear mat on a past d90 because I didnt want to stick it to the tub directly. Worked pretty well.

If they made a rear mat for a 110 softtop/regular, I'd do that, but unfortunately no such luck

I used a rubber 5 bar design material cut to size. It worked well.
something kind of like this

here it is in the front floor

Did it contour well to the sharp corners? I dont mind cutting to fit, just dont want rounded corners

To keep the corners sharp at the wheel wells, I left a gap in the dynamat material so the corners would stay sharper. Dynamat make a closed cell foam in different thicknesses as well as a foil back rubber material. The foam is a great sound deadener. 1/4 inch is good. Any thicker and it a bit too padded.

One reasonable solution for the back bed is the horse stall mat from Tractor Supply (About $45/ piece). 4’x6’ so you cut to fit the width, and use a little piece to make up the extra length by the bulkhead. Very heavy, works great for sound and vibration deadening and apparently indestructible as a bed liner.

For the sides used outdoor carpet stuff from Lowe’s. Easy to cut since the weave is in straight lines. For waterproof padding got cheap 36”x72”x1/4” yoga mats from Amazon and glued to the back of the carpeting. Waterproof, durable. You could also use the yoga mat/carpet for the floor instead of the horse stall mat. This combination greatly reduces noise and vibration without needing to glue anything to the truck. It’s also very cheap compared to custom fit carpeting or matting. Important for me since I’m still not sure what my permanent solution/configuration mat be in the back of this truck.

I followed a similar approach to that of Mffoster, but used Luxury Liner Pro instead of yoga mats. Overall, I'm rather happy with it.

I dynamatted the tub of my 90. The next layer should be something like mass loaded vinyl. Only a thin layer so any rubber mat you have can still fit properly.

I researched spray on sound deadeners and they all need to covered with some sort of mat or carpet if you are going to carry heavy stuff in back. Its a softer compound than a bed liner type material and won't take much abuse. You can apply a bed liner or paint on top of spray on deadener after it cures. I used Second Skin Spectrum and it works pretty well.

They can also be used on the underside and topcoated with undercoating.
