Anybody have one? How do you like it?

just ordered two kits for my boys, ages 5 and 8. I get the feeling that the five year-old will be a little young for this but I think that the eight year old will love it. There’s a pretty amazing selection of aftermarket parts for them. Of course, I ordered the Defender 110 bodies. I have some leftover rattlecan paint that’s color-matched to my ex-MOD that I will paint one of them. Maybe find something close to Arles Blue for the other one.

I may have to ask Santa for one for me, too.

Super fun ! If you're getting more than one spend the money on the good radios that can do frequency changing so you can all drive them around together

Entertaining watching the suspension work like the real deal.

Get this too and download the software to make your own Tdi sound pack.

Do the radios that come with the kit not allow for frequency changing?

My 17 year old tears his apart on a regular basis, Rebuilds the transfer case, transmission etc. The he orders a Hobbywing ESC for slower crawling speeds, and a better high gear speeds. He's got packages of spare parts stacked up all over the garage. 2 useable lip batteries, and about 4 ones he's burned out and needs to get replaced by Traxxas. He's completely broke, and always trying to borrow money from me to buy more parts.

These Traxxas trucks are nothing like the real Defenders at all.....

I built my first Tamiya RC car when I was in 4th and 5th grade. 100% on my own. My dad borrowed a tractor and we created a race track out beside the house. It was probably the most mechanical work I ever did in my life till I bought a '65 Series IIa in 1998!

You're kids will love them!

My wife may disagree. I bet she says that sounds exactly the same! 😂

Same here, it was “The Frog.” Minus the track part but yeah, so great!

I have one also, it's a lot of fun. The radio is the cheapest part, but it works fine. Cable/servo activated diffs are way cool.

Same here. Mine was a Tamiya Blackfoot I got for Christmas in 1986 when I was 12. Even back then, you could mod everything from the gears, suspension, frame, and tires. If only 3D printing was around back then. What a great way to learn how to wrench on your own stuff. Hopefully, your boys will tinker with them as much as you will be tempted to.

Yep, mine must have been right about 1986 as well. I bought the Hornet with my own money.... my younger brother got the Frog as a gift! (Still a point of deep contention between us! LOL!)

My friend and I would go down to Del Mar and watch Tony Hawk skate, and race our cars for money. Good old days. Hawk was just a teen, and we were in grade school earning cash from pools in RC track races!

Gelande COVID build here. Definitely get one for yourself we set up a course outside and had timed trial runs.Even held a few nighttime races. Good times with my 15&17 yo. The 15 smoked us both - go figure

Before I bought my Traxxass I had questioned the hobby shop guy that the price difference to the Defender and their other products was because of the marketing rights to Land Rover.

He said maybe a little but the truck is just that good.

I haven't driven mine much but some of stuff that I did drive the truck across shocked me. Grip, side slope, climbs, etc seemed amazing.

Where did you score the authentic-looking fender flares, headlight surrounds, etc? This doesn't look anything like the 110 body I bought from Traxxas. I like yours better.
