Were proud to announce that we are working with @silversporttransmissions to offer the brand new TR-4050 as an option for our crate drivetrains. We even verified that the LT230 adapter will fit, allowing us to use this as the go to transmission for our defender kits.

Quick Draw just posted this yesterday on IG: http://instagr.am/p/B8aBv70nibi/
If using an analog GM auto it seems it would make things easier by not having to worry about the mapping and a TCU. Rebuilt TH400 look to sell for $1,000-1500.

Then $1,100 for a Marks TH400 to LT230 adapter: https://www.marks4wd.com/mfk355.html

This is what we were up there working with Chad on last month. We took a 110 up and did test fittings.
For our purposes, we only utilize stock transfercase positions so as to not change drive line angles and avoid the need for custom driveshafts.
Chad's production version won't be machined from a chunk of aluminum like pictured, they will be cast.

Also available is the Ford 6R80 which is a Ford modified under license ZF 6 spd trans that was used in LR Lr4 and L322 etc. Primary difference is that Ford took the controller and moved it to an external location. Trey and I decided against the 6R80 due to how far back the tcase had to be spaced so that the front driveshaft flange didnt hit the transmission pan flange. Put the engine too far forward in the bay.

He also now has available a bellhousing to mate the ZF 4hp22/24 to the Cummins.
I'm going to build a test rig with the ZF4HP24eh using Ashcrofts controller for the 24eh and Compushift to play with controlling shift points in a 130 I have sitting around here. Somewhat skeptical about using a 4spd, but until we've tried it we just dont know. 24 is torque rated quite a bit higher than the 22 and will hold up.

Chad/Quickdraw should be everyone's go to for one of these engines. He's purchased more than any other entity and gets the lowest pricing because of his volume.

Great to know some auto versions will be available. Can't wait to hear how it works with the 4 speed setup.

I'm hoping to get in touch with Chad soon. ;)

I could be wrong, but I thought Doug said they made the adapter, but did no fitting into a 110. I'm guessing you would need to figure out the shifter, location and tunnel yourself.

I would think between the 2 trans tunnel's easily available that something would work.

If I where going the route with that gearbox, I would speak to both companies and determine costs and how much custom work would be needed. Once you have all the information, you can make a better decision where to buy parts.

The easiest, lowest cost route is, I'm sure, the long bellhousing R380 if you have a 200TDI or earlier truck. It should be all fairly plug and play other than the cooling system. I should couch that by saying I have no idea what Axis is charging for their stuff, but I'm ASSUMING it is not low cost. The TR4050 would sure be nice though, and probably what I would do if I won the lottery.

Totally agree on talking to both companies and seeing what the costs are. I have not spoken to Axis but Chad at QD was great and seems open to make things work.

I'm going that "straight forward" (I never feel like anything is ever easy ;) ) direction (long shaft/BH R380 w/ HD bearing). Like you said stock location of TC and other driveline items. Cooling is the main thing to figure out. If the R380 gives fits behind the R2.8 I can look into the TR4050.

At the very least it is nice to see some options for a decent cost coming around for this engine(y)

I spoke with Chad about it on Sunday. He thinks July sometime. He's also hopeful that the shifter might be able to be used with older setups like 300tdi. I think the tunnel might be an issue on the 200tdi's and older.

Quickdraw now has an MT82 adapter in process for the R2.8 for those interested...
Yeah he was asking me for a slave/throw out assembly so he could get his back spacing right. Figured out the a Ford ranger used the same clutch as the puma so didn't have to order from the Uk.

I definitely want to build one with the 6spd after this past weeks learning curve getting the truck to go 0-80 in 20 secs. The getrag is a must try.
Of note the tdci MT82 is not /does not have the same internals as the high torque mustang version. Have seen where folks on other forums indicated they didn't use a hd r380 because they believe the MT82 to be stronger. Chad took both a mustang and a tdci versions apart ( we were hoping to switch housings and be able to use the Cummins flywheel) internals are very different. Not sure what the baby mt82 is rated for but throwing our indings out there.

the mustang version has been identified for tons of random failures, and Ford has a class action against them and getrag for it. Maybe its not all its cracked up to be?

maybe a tr4050 or a tr6060 would be better suited

I have been wondering about the torque rating and weather or not it will hold up. The 2.2 TDCI service manual show the torque rating at only 360NM or 265 ft/lb. I sent a message to Dave Ashcroft to get his thoughts. I wonder if he could do an HD versrion similar to the HD r380 he is doing?
