Occidental leather tool belt and bag set up $254 in size extra large. This is usually $305-325. I got XL because I would like to try the sheepshin pads ($60 on sale).

Hard to find a deal on Oxy stuff. Yes, I ordered these two to add to my collection. I now keep stuff in bags so I can just grab it. I have the 2in belt (nice belt, but should have gotten the 3in) and the commercial electricians pouch.

If anyone is looking for inexpensive levels, I can recommend KAPro. They small magnetic one is $6.99 and the magnetic torpedo is $4.52. I checked them against my stabila and they are identical as to the bubble.

The basic klein lineman are $20.77 on woot, normally $35. These are excellent. Free shipping if you are a prime member.

As Electricians lore has it, dark blue handles are the hardest material, so those are best for treating them like a multitool or a cut-all things. I think there are a lighter blue, but mostly then red then yellow. High voltage stuff those colors do not apply.

That has to be lore. Klein is not all that consistent on colors. Usually lineman are blue, dykes are red, long nose are yellow, but you can make an all yellow set if you try. And they have other handles (insulated, VDE, journeyman, heavy duty, glow, double dipped special editions :))

According to Klein, the 2000 series are heavy duty cutting (nails, screws etc.) and the other ones are not for anything beyond ACSR.

That being said, I have seen many tests and myself have used regular Klein’s to cut stuff I should not and they have held up ok. I have a set of HD213-9NE did fencing work with and cut split pins etc.

So reading a Klein part number is actually pretty easy if you know that 2000 point.

D213-9NE is a Dipped handle, 213 is the model, 9 inch, New England style lineman.

The highest optioned is something like the

J2000-9NECRTP

J is journeyman handles. 2000 series and then you get stuff at the end if it has a crimper (CR), fish tape puller (TP), or you can also get a thread cleaner instead (TH).

You can also get glow in the dark hi-viz (GLW suffix).

If you want the heavy duty cutting, they sell the lineman and some dykes with some strippers for $70.

In my experience dark blue Klien side cutters (Dykes) are definitely harder steel than the red handled ones.

That is true in dykes because the blue is always Heavy Duty 2000 series and red is always not. That does not apply to lineman. Most of the lineman you can get the same handles in 2000 series or not 2000 series. The exceptions are glow (only 2000) and yellow dip (has a crimper, not 2000).

Also, there are yellow (9in), glow, and VDE 2000 series dykes.

Maybe a tabletop review is in order ….

I have to say you get 95% of the utility of any Klein’s lineman (which go up to $70 or so) out of the entry level one on woot for $20. It may be in my head or because of the handles, but I find the non-2000 have a little less snap than the 2000 series when cutting copper wire or fence ties.

If anyone is looking for high quality whitworth wrenches, here you go.
It says $59 shipping but that is an error. Shipping is free when you put it in your cart (at least for me with prime). Not cheap at $186, but that is a deal. They are advertised as draper brand but actually Elora (German made) which is owned or affiliated with Draper or something. I am now on the hunt for some 6 point 1/2 and 3/8 whitworth sockets that are high quality.

If you want basic metric wrenches (normal short pattern) in a no skip set, but the nicest ones possible, there is one Stahlwille 13/26 set (6-30mm, 32mm) stalhwille set left in stock for $302 (list price is around a grand, usually the best price is well over $400).

The craftsman branded Knipex cobras are back on woot for $27. They are made by Knipex in Germany and identical to the cobra except for the handles.

I like the smooth double dipped handle in black the craftsman ones have as it hides oil and cleans up a lot better/easier that all the other actual Knipex handles even if they are not a grippy if that makes any sense.
