Dewalt 12v impact driver with two batteries and charger and bag $79. 48% off.

I am going all in on 12v. Going to keep the 20v for the big drill and high torque, but use 12v for pretty much everything I can and hope Dewalt makes some 12v ratchets.

Also have the 12v drill kit for the same price.

So I think I have figured out why Dewalt does not sell cordless ratchets. Stanley Black and Decker sells them, they use Dewalt 12v batteries, but they are sold as MAC brand.

I am now on the hunt for a deal on 3/8th MAC 12v ratchet tool only ….

Amazon seems to have some great deals on Gedore torque wrenches. $105 and $119 for the small and medium search Gedore 9x12.

In other news, Knipex has screw removal pliers now (~$40) and some Dewalt ratchet pics leaked. Ugh. Can’t wait to get those tools.

$43 for old Wera advent calendar

Yes, I bought it. I think it was like $100 or so originally. I like the Wera cases and it has torx and hex and 8, 10, 13mm sockets with a t-handle and a stubby. PH/PZ/SL too. The corkscrew and bottle opener are cool and probably why most people buy it. KC tool (and others) have the Knipex twin grip pliers for pre order. I got one normal handle and one comfort grip coming.

The Gedore torque wrench deal is gone. :( It ok though, I ordered another Stahlwille because #allthestahl project must go on (and I already had other Gedore torque wrenches). But you snooze you lose on these types of deals.

SK has some good steals and deals. According to Harry J Epstein’s youtube, SK is getting sold by Ideal to the Chinese (or private equity) so American made SK could be going away.

Got the 3/8 SAE swivel set (USA made) the $17 linesman pliers (prob channellock or Wilde made as they say USA), but what got me to make an order was the 6 point double offset metric wrenches in short pattern. Got 9x10, 11x12, 13x14 and 17x19 all in $40 which seemed good. These all seem to be maybe foreign made though as they are not stamped USA. One review does say USA though. Will need to see the packages. Rolling the dice. Picked up the two SAE half moon wrenches too (USA). Lots of crowsfoot wrenches on sale but I don’t find a need for them often.

Wera 3/8 ratchet switch, $35

I thought I would not like it, but I actually really like it. It’s longer than a regular ratchet and the head is small and slim. 72 tooth. Made in Czech. I bought it for a car tool kit (theory being any decent ratchet would cost me $12-20 so why not try a nicer one on sale), but it’s going in the box.

Hazet 953HP is back in stock on Amazon.de and on sale. 90 tooth, 1000nm for 1/2 drive (on a test on YouTube it broke right at 1000nm which is insane for a ratchet). 1/2 and 1/4 in socket and ratchet set plus some bits and such. Make sure to get the HP not the regular set. The newer 90 tooth ratchets are better.

Ends up being $201 plus shipping after VAT is removed. All in, call it $250 if it’s all you buy in an average sales tax state (shipping scales until you hit the import duty at like $900 so buy stuff all at once).

it’s one of the few deals available on Hazet.

So the sale on the Hazet 953HP inspired me to do a $1000 on German Tools update. This ends up being under $1000 shipped plus sales tax and just over at 6%.

The fact that the 14mm Stahlwille 14 is on back order is annoying, but you could always buy that later. You could also drop a couple sets of pliers or something and get the 15, 16, and 18 as well if you are like that. And maybe you want the 8-19mm full set of ratcheting wrenches in which case you need to cut $110 as that set is $186, but I rarely use anything other than 8, 10, 13, 17, 19 in ratcheting wrenches. You can save a few dollars by going normal not comfort grip Knipex (the black regular grip pliers wrench is $42 etc.). Maybe you have some tools already.

But I did give this some thought and tried to go with good deals, but a priority on stuff I really like in a set that makes sense, and one that has at least one thing from each of the top brands (don’t sleep on the VBW S-grips, they are unique and the best pliers for pipe like tie rods assuming you don’t need a 3ft pipe wrench because they are rusted stuck). The bits in the Wera and Hazet sets will work well in the Gedore silent gear, the Wera chisel drivers has PZ in it etc.

Have you considered making your own thread? This stuff is good, but it's not really in the context of deals, IMO.

I get it. I am overdoing it. :) Not deals you say though, ORLY. ;) But I can move to a new thread. Frank suggested a greatest hits thread so maybe I will do that.

I compared to US (attached) and much everything on the list is on sale/deal on .de. (The Wera hex keys and Knipex pliers wrench no, although the black pliers wrench is a deal on .de at $42). That’s why I picked them. Wera chisel drivers: $69 v. $112, Hazet 953HP $225 v $387, cobras $24 v $37, Knipex knife $11 v. $31, wrenches are about 2/3rds US prices.

All in, it adds up to over $1500 from low cost US providers (assuming you can even get them like the VBW pliers and the cool stabila folding rule). So average even after shipping you save more than 1/3.

Has anyone found a great portable storage solution for wrenches besides the trapezoidal ones that either are too tight to get the wrench out easily, or too loose to keep them in securely? I would love to find a hard-sided case with pre-molded slots, but I’m coming up with nothing.

The only hard boxes I know of are the Hazet foam ones ones that fit in the plastic box like the 953HP.

I really like tool rolls for wrenches.
