It ain’t bad. It becomes my detailing stuff storage (I would say detailing cart but everyone knows I don’t wash my vehicles) once my 56in comes in. I paid full price at $240 and I think I am the first person in the history of harbor freight to do so, however, they had them in stock in white (and black and orange) and that never happens these days (September if you order). I should have gotten black, but I figured I might wheel it outside and, as such, black would turn into an oven …. I already scratched it in a couple places.

It’s easy to put together if you can follow instructions (leave stuff loose, but do seat the carriage bolts in the slots). It does take some time and if you can do it in under an hour you are a better wrench than me. My one tip I have not seen on videos is to put the lid struts on first as without them the top flops around (that was scratch #2). They are super strong so you can magnet things to the lid (I need to get some magnet bars). A nylon hammer helps to seat the carriage bolts. All you need is the hammer, a 13mm ratcheting wrench, a Phillips #2, and something to grip the 12mm? on the other side of the lid struts (I used 125mm cobras which I always carry). To tighten everything down I did use a 1/4in impact with a 13mm socket to save time.

The latches on the right (so all but the two drawers on the left) and completely natural to me because that’s where I grab the latches on the snap-on box. The other two, with the latches on the left is going to take some getting used to. At least all my tools are now locked up (not that locks can’t be pryed open but it makes me feel better).

BTW, the tool cart is a lot bigger than one might think it is. I was able to fit two sets of metric wrenches (up to 32mm) on the magnetic rails in the second from the bottom drawer. My only real gripe is that the holes on the side of the top are not deep enough for my prybars except a mayhew select (that will teach me to not pay more for the mayhew doninator).

A few pictures of my toolbox at my hanger. I went with yellow since it matches my airplane.

I found another tool vendor.

They have some good deals in close outs. $32 for Facom five piece stubby ratcheting wrenches in the sizes that don’t come in the normal sets.

lots of Gravik (Vaughan US made) hammers and pullers (borderline free — $16 for riggers axe, hammers $15 and under), and have the malco eagle grip pliers for less than Amazon. They also bought out the last of the US made crescent adjustable wrenches (will compare with the igera Spanish made channel lock brand ones I ordered). Also good prices on Estwing hammers.

The Facom set is the fill out set to the normal 5 piece. So basically it gets you the ones you don’t use often. But the gearwrench set I linked has 10mm. :)

Sunex master 3/8 impact socket set $183

Amazon rarely lets you order this. It’s $50 more plus elsewhere. It’s not in stock but at some point you should get it. It’s the best deal on Sunex going as it has universals to 19mm and 3/4, has torx to T55, and E-torx (if you own German, that is helpful), has extensions including a really long one, u-joint and has shallow and deep. I spent way too much buying the parts of this separately for my main set and then I found this. SMH. I have an order in for the castle set.

Add the $33 SAE and Metric hex set I posted before and you have all the 3/8 impact sockets you could want through 19mm and 3/4.

PS if anyone is looking for inexpensive levels, I can recommend KAPRO. I ordered some more and they were really nice (as good or better than Johnson and not far off stabila). It’s $4.52 for a magnetic torpedo level, and $10 for a magnetic handy (bigger than the stabila and no belt holder, but half the price). I also picked up a small one with an adjustable vile with degrees for $2 but that is not here yet. It’s sort of like komelon tape measurers. For the price, you would think they were crap, but they are as nice as the ones that cost multiples the price. The $7 25ft komelon gripper I have basically standardized all my non-metric tapes to as it’s nice and has the fractions printed on it. The stabila is $15 (best price, usually more), but it’s no nicer although I use that for metric in the main set (I have a komelon metric/inch for other sets).

Not super cheap, but if you get one set of German pliers, the Knipex cobra 250mm (10in) is probably the place to start (they were my first German pliers) and Amazon is selling for $27.

Currently there are good prices on 5, 6, 7 inch as well (125mm, 150mm, 180mm) in the same link. I carry around the 5in 125mm with me at all times. Great for doing things like disconnecting batteries, tightening toilet seats, holding a nut etc.

Personally I like chrome ones better than black oxide, but each have advantages (and chrome are more expensive).

toolsid has the 5in in pink and blue handles in chrome with a little neat metal case “my first Knipex” for $32 each. I have thus far resisted buying them, but I am sure that won’t last ….

Anyone who has stripped the starter bolt knows it’s a pain to deal with. Not only was it stripped, my bolt extractor turned it into a smooth cylinder. I broke out the new malco eagle grips, locked them on, tightened them up with an 8mm hex, and the bolt came right off after smashing the handle with a mallet. The teeth still are razor sharp.

These are amazing locking pliers.

So as I continue to use these things, I like to update impressions.

This is one of the most useful tools I own. A 60in “line up bar” from Mayhew for $36.

It’s exactly what it says it is. A thick 5ft metal bar with a point on one end and a bent end for levering on the other like a pry bar. Made in USA. Not sure how they can sell it for $36 as shipping should be that much ….

I was able to lever out a tree stump for my neighbor.

Woot open box deal on gearwrench master set

I think it has pretty much every socket. Had this deal been out there I probably would have bought it for the castle had I not already gotten a bunch of tools. Oh well. I may still buy it. It would be nice to have all the socket trays full just for OCD.
