NOS unobtanium is the best kind of unobtanium
Would agree. Normaly these would have really been a big deal with Trey but he was all about the huge 280 lb Reed Model 208 8 inch swivel vise. These have recently gone for as much as $3200. Early industrial era iron (anvil's and pre WW2 vises) is going for crazy money these days. One pre WW1 anvil weighing 982lbs sold for $5600 to a fellow who fully intended to use it. No idea how Trey found the auction listing for the vise. It was @ an Amish run farm auction in rural Southern Alabama. Being an Amish auction co, technology and information was minimal and you had to be present to view/bid. He got the vise for less than he'd budgeted so called and closed the deal on the sliders and swung West to nab them on the way home, sliders were just icing on a bigger cake.

It's cool to watch your son pursue passions- especially tools.

Is Trey stockpiling low-background steel?
Not stockpiling yet but he's totally into quality antique tools from the industrial revolution era. He has antique tap and die sets in wooden felt lined cases. Lots of 20-30's wooden handled screw drivers built like knives with riveted on handles. He surfs/buys stuff off ebay and the look on his face as he opens a 100 yr old screw driver thats not bent or chipped in any way but has incredible patina is awesome to watch.

Our early K.R.Wilson shop press dates from the teens or 20's and is a 50 ton rated arbor/hydraulic. Thing is awesome.

Wilson collaborated with Henry Ford to make some of his factory machinery. The company's presses are highly sought after.

Looking for a couple old long frame t handle floor jacks

On the bench today: Obscure LR literature (a favorite). More history guide than manual. Thanks RN!
