Spoke with the Hamburgler for an hour last night.
Things aren't going his way, unusually wet season in Northern Iowa has things too wet for soil stabilization. They haven't been able to work. As a Superintendent a large part of his job has been recovery once a piece of equipment sinks. They go as far as cutting holes through frames and permanently fitting cable bridles to some trucks. He says they have pulled Mack truck frames in two.
He said he's going to come on here and post some awesome pictures.

Soooo, yea it’s been a pretty interesting but fun year so far and reports of my demise were greatly exaggerated. As Uncle Doug said after being in the oil and gas in the Ohio/WV/PA area last summer my company branched out to wind and I ended up in South Dakota last year while my Rover languished at Uncle Doug’s farm. So when my F250 decided to shit the bed on me at the last minute I simply loaded up the Rover and headed out west. And I have to say that I’m so happy I ended up taking the Rover it would not have been near as much fun, gone cool places nor met some awesome people without it! So I will try to update the thread with the pictures I took along the way.

So that’s how my trip started off, the 7.3 on the hook. After a little thinking I rented a minivan, loaded up my shit and headed up to Doug’s we then pulled the Tith out of the weeds, changed the oil, greased and fired her up. I then made a plexiglass barrier for right behind the interior roll cage to keep the heat in the cab. After that we did some pre-Covid socializing and adult beverages. Then it was off!

It was pretty much an ice/snow shit storm from St Luis on. I hit St. Louis about 7pm and it was friggen NASCAR on Ice! People just hauling ass and wrecking everywhere! Go passed by a minivan doing 360’s absolutely insane.

I worked for a frac fluid heating company and we used used motor oil for fuel to run the heating units, which are basically heat exchangers heating the water used in the fracking process. I ran a tanker truck delivering the used oil to the various sites south of Williston. I was based out of our Killdeer yard.
