Temperature coolant sensor tight but spinning

I had a code 14/CEL on my 95 Disco indicating faulty coolant sensor. Right at the end of installing a new one, when it should snug right up, the unit started spinning. I think it’s the plastic part around the actual sensor, but there’s no getting it tighter or backing it out. It doesn’t sit loose, but it just didn’t leave me with the warm fuzzy of a job well-done.

After running the engine to burp the coolant, I couldn’t find any leakage yet. I’ve seen some references to this online, but has anybody here experienced it? Am I stuffed, or am I rolling the dice and coming up 7s winning?

I actually misread and didn’t realize this is a new sensor. You might be okay if you’re not getting a fault for it. To remove you’ll have to break the plastic part off and use an extractor to get it out of the intake.

I was kind of thinking that was coming, but I'm definitely waiting to see on the code. No magic fairy dust to make it easy. Thanks.
