Tech Wiki

There was discussion on the other forum about having a neatly organized tech wiki, which in my opinion would be a more effective repository for information than having it all buried in threads. Thoughts?

I was actually looking into this yesterday and I found some interesting options for integrating MediaWiki (what Wikipedia uses) with vBulletin (what we use here).

My question for you guys is: would you actually create content in it and help maintain it?

If enough members post up tech write ups we can easily do this. I like the idea!

Well, to be fair, it's a lot more than just tech write-ups. Someone has to curate the organization of everything and fix things when people put stuff in the wrong section or make a mess. If someone wants to volunteer and has the time to manage it, I'm happy to look into setting it up.

If all we want is tech write-ups, I can make a "howto" forum where people can post theirs, which might be easier.

I do like the idea of the wiki, though. It would be a great place for a buyers guide and general info about the Defenders--powerplant options, importing info, etc.

I was thinking more of a how to section which would be super easy to assemble as members add content.

In that case I would consider doing it. That would limit the amount of ongoing maintenance.

With the caveat that one day I'd like to include broader LR tech there, not just Defender (as there's so much overlap).

I'll look into it but the higher priority right now is a mobile solution. So many people are asking for that.

I understand. Just thinking content is king. As of today there is no good single repository of tech info for LR anywhere on the North American web.

I used to browse D90S with the Social Knowledge app and it was great. It stopped working a few months ago (shit!!! probably a year )
