I switched out to a 30 psi VDO vision gauge, from the 15 psi and now I am only getting a max of 14 psi. The 15 psi gauge would easily go above the 15.
Any thoughts

That 1/8 compression fitting on the back is so easy to jack up. I've ruined a few, I hope it just that.

May be hard to do at speed yea without a helper and the gauge hanging out if the dash

So I got a new tube kit from VDO and redid the boost gauge hookup. Boost number seem to be the same, so maybe the 15 psi gauge just gets a little funky at its higher end.

Played with the fuel settings

My numbers are:

70mph
950-1000 egts
2750 rpms
10 psi
No real smoke, except a puff of dark smoke when started and a bit of grey at speed, but only when I really stomp on the pedal

Sounds perfect. You probably have at least 10 psi headroom to play with.

If you want that power a manual boost controller can get it for you.

Stock t from turbo output. One goes to the injection pump the other goes to the bottom of the controller. You can tee off the line for boost gauge .

Horizontal fitting from controller goes to the stock actuator. Same plumbing works for vnt.

Start with the controller all the way turned down then adjust up after WOT highway runs .

Got the boost controller hooked up, got the boost up to 19+, turned it down four clicks and got it to max out about 18.
Feels great on the highway, and great around town. Made the other adjustments and have it pretty much dialed in, very little smoke and the temps seem to stay in the safe range

Do you think, with these mods, that the 200TDI could pull a 2000lb trailer in the mountains, say up passes in the 9000-10,000' elevation range? That is what my end goal is--just don't want to sink the cost and fall short of the goal.
