TDI 200 Injector Issue

Dear all

I had found some leaks (engine oil) underneath (please refer to photos) and my question is the leaks come from the injector?

My local mechanic just wrapped the injector by only white tape, so does it work? or must change the new injector to solve the issue? Or not the injector issue?

Appreciated all your help! thank you

Injectors look dry as a bone. It's not the injectors.

That's engine oil. You either have a rear main seal leak, block gasket leak or T seal leak. Or combination of the three.

That leak is extremely minor in the pictures that you show.

To replace any of the above seals You're going to need to take it to a competent mechanic, The idiot that you're taking it to right now you should not go back. He's fucking clueless

I would just drive it until it starts getting really bad. The engine needs to be removed to replace any of the above. You're also going to want to remove the wading plug from underneath the clutch housing. It's the hexagonal plug in That is covered by the upper right hand corner of the red box that you drew on the left hand side.

Hi Napalm00, thank you for your replied.

There was an engine oil leaked out from injector (1st Injector) previously, then my local mechanic just took out the injector and wrapped by white tape. Is it solved? But I think he wrapped the glow plug and not the injector.

Now I found that underneath (picture that I drew with red boxes, some engine oil appeared, don't know where is the leaks come from). Ya, it is extreme minor, but when you drive like 2 hours ++ journey, then it will leak and can see on the floor. So do you mean the leaks might be either from rear main seal leak, block gasket or T seal leak?

Ya, maybe you are right, just drive it until it getting really bad, but my concerns only is affect for other parts, as long as it won't affect other parts then it is ok for me to drive it until really bad, haha...;)

and I am noticed a light white smoke and smelly this morning when I started my defender, any problems? or just a normal condition when start a car before drive it?

Ok, noted and thanks for your wading plug. I will remove it.

No the tape won't do anything.

White smoke and smelly diesel fuel at the tailpipe means that you're running rich. You could have a leaking internal injector, or timing issues.

Yes the engine oil underneath the engine is most likely from one of those three seals.

Ok, thanks for your info(y)..

By the way, I read from other post stated that the leaks was from the banjo bolt loose (for his case). Please refer the below link:

So maybe get familiar with how engines work, how diesel is combusted, and come to a conclusion as to possibility of oil in the combustion chamber.

The thread you referenced shows how poster isolated leak. What did you find when you did this?

I am going to agree with rear main/T seal issue. Have a pan handy when you pull wading plug.
As far as Tdi’s go, that is a pretty leak free motor from your pictures.

And yes, your mechanic, as portrayed by you, is just stupid.

You also have a breather hose issue, your other hoses need attention, and the exhaust bodge just is what it is.

Plug to pull out. Only install if you are wading.

Oh, large commercial baking sheet pans are great for leaving on garage floor to act as Rover litter box. Find at any restaurant supply place.

Thank you for your replied. I am referred to this thread https://nas-row.com/index.php?threads/transmission-leak.950/ , so I am assuming my issue would be the same.

I already remove the wading plug this morning, so far nothing was happen, all clear!

I should try the above thread way and see.

By the way, what do you mean by I have other breather hose issue too? because of the yellowish colour?

Thanks for your info ya(y)
