Storing tires / wheels

What, if anything, do y'all do to tires still mounted on wheels before storing? In the past I've just hosed them off & stacked when dry in the basement.

That's a good question - I have a set mounted on wheels, stacked as well. Never thought about doing anything, as long as they are stored indoors out of the sun & weather.

I just stack them and keep them in a shed, out of the sun.

Oh, and I change out the stale air for fresh air every 3 months......

My local tire shop advises the following:
-- if not mounted on rims, store them vertically; i.e., side-by-side
-- if on rims, it's OK to stack them one atop the other.
-- cover each one in a closed plastic bag, to minimize rubber oxidation from exposure to the air.
