Not a Land Rover - Hummer H1 Stolen - apologies if these aren’t permitted on the forum. Let me know and I’ll take it down.

Posting for my brother whose feelings for his Hummer H1 rivals what most of us feel for our Land Rovers.

We all hope your brother finds his Hummer. Hopefully, it will be in still shape and the people that took it, are in jail.

People suck! I was just looking at Nextdoor.com. The neighborhood west of me has been plagued with break-ins, south of me kids banging on front doors at 3a and in my neighborhood several Ford Raptors have been stolen out of peoples driveways. I hope he gets his truck back and they catch the scumbags who stole it.

Thanks for the replies... The Police didn’t give him much hope. They said it’s probably in a container waiting for a ship at the port he lives about 45 minutes from.

In what part of Vancouver was it stolen? Assuming Surrey based on the police number?

In the UK, many Defender owners are equipping their vehicles with trackers. Defender theft there is a huge issue. As a community, it's something we should consider a the value of vehicles like this continues to rise.

Once vehicles or heavy equipment is locked inside a container, very difficult for the signal from a recovery radio system to get out.

Good outcome, but unsettling none the less. Obviously not organized crime / pro car thieves. More often than not, stolen property crimes in the Vancouver area are addicts looking to steal, and then sell the stolen goods to fuel the drug addiction. Since COVID, this problem has grown at an alarming rate, due to less people being out and about. Crime has risen at an alarming rate, and now, instead of smashing a window and stealing the contents, they are taking the vehicle. Yup, time to get out of the city!

Yeah - the Surrey police indicated much the same to my brother regarding rising crime rates. He actually found the truck himself. He took his dog for a walk to some unfinished town house developments he knew of local to him. After about an hour and a half of walking he spotted it down a dead end street. In hindsight, he wished he had spent some time driving the neighbourhood rather than focusing on filing a police report after discovering it missing, The assumption was it was on its way to a container and the docks. Food for thought - if the worst should happen.

The assumption now is that the thieves cased the truck in a parking lot somewhere and followed my brother home. It was taken from a locked underground parking facility and specific electronics and the ARB fridge were taken - all visible by someone walking around it. The truck is not his daily driver, so he often left some communication, navigation and the fridge in it. It is a sad commentary - but it was a mistake in this day and age.
