Of course, this Hopkins guy is not banned on D90. He'll probably continue to sell vehicles there for years if he's anything like the other scammers that site has harbored.

It was a shit storm I brought on myself for working with a shady guy. He tried to give the cops a power of attorney "signed by me" he tried to claim it was his car using a wire transfer receipt from my company. He got himself sued on his way out of town by threatening to stalk an attorney wife over facebook messenger. The guy rolled out of here like a tornado. Stole one of my snap on boxes just to pawn it. I am grateful he didn't fuck any of my customers over.

So how come he is not in jail?
Ask the cops? They barely helped me at all. I would have never got it back had I not driven to South Carolina and put my ass in the chair at the police station and said "I'm not leaving until my car is in the trailer" This still took 4 days. He has one of my snap on boxes listed for sale right now. It still has plastic on the top its so new. You would think that was a felony. But in reality, They dont care

I was wondering if this was the case:

there is a lot more to this story than has been reported. There are also two sides and your all only hearing one side.

(original post) If this double posts I apologize. When I arrived in Charleston the 90 was not at his house. I looked around on my own. Checked with storage places and auto parts stores like I was looking for a lost child. Finally, I just went and started talking to his neighbors. He called the police on me!!!!! Tried to take control of the situation using a fake power of attorney and a wire transfer receipt from my business with his name on it. He had access and did wire the initial payment from my account. The responding police got confused told me they couldn't help and I would have to leave and get an investigator at the police headquarters. As I am a very calm person at all times my wife on the other hand was steaming out of her ears. We left and went to the station. The officer heard out our side of the story and left to go speak with MR. Hopkins, once they had spoken we got together again. I had to defend Mr. Hopkins rather clever plan. He showed a forged power of attorney "singed by me" claimed the company was his using the wire transfer receipt. He was trying to spin it into a civil matter because he has no suable value. Well The secrtary of the state keeps pretty good records of who owns what company. Pretty easy to prove I feel as if I just wrote a novel and not covered half of what happened. Basicly dont feed a cop a story that an onlie goverment database will prove wrong in less than 5 minutes. The officer also called CBP and my customs broker and talked with them pulled my import records ect.
Attached is the happy dance right after it made it to the station. All in all this has a happy ending. When I got home I decided I was going to finish the full every nut and bolt LHD, TDCI body convertion and stick an LS in it. I am 10 weeks out from the finish line as we speak

Really dude? ?They don?t care????? The detective called CBP and your customs broker, but you say, ?they barely helped? you at all? You have your D90 back. Yes, YOU had to go to South Carolina and take custody of your D90 and haul it back to Kansas City. The fact that Hopkins is not in jail for auto theft raises a red flag. If there was a case that could be made by the detective for prosecution, and you were a willing victim, then Hopkins should have been arrested and prosecuted.

If Hopkins stole from you, then screw that guy. He should be in jail. That doesn’t seem to be the case. As you said, “all in all this has been a happy ending.”

After Mr. Hopkins displayed a fake Power of attorney signed by me when the police arrived the detective had to figure out the whole mess. After this drug out for 4 days I was given a proposition by the Detective to get my car today (a Sunday). Or wait until Mon, Tue, Wed for the wheels of justice to move. I took the "cash payout" as I had my family with me. Kansas City says, they would/will pursue it if he moved back here. That it is unrealistic to retrieve him from so far. There is way more to this story as mentioned above. This is only one side of it. However, this is the side who was stolen from not the thief.
Keep in mind every police dept involved, after researching his claims. Went and took the Defender from him. He hijacked my facebook business page. Although he did create it. He is posting crazy stuff on it claiming I didn't own the company (My mother wrote the LLC) He does not understand the difference between an organizer and an Owner/member. He thought being an Organizer of the LLC meant that he could take all my things. Leaving it a civil matter and clear of criminal charges. I know this because this is what he is saying to the police while my wife and I are sitting in my truck listening. This is not theif behavior IMO I believe he had been planning this for months. This is some con artist type stuff that happened to me. I couldn't help but think as it was unfolding how clever it really was. I'm not here to advise you against buying from him. As I'm sure some of his stuff is great This is Just a cautionary tale

You are right. The detective busted his ass to solve this. I am fully aware that I had/have an unrealistic tv like expectation over what the police do. I know this is not reality. Its just a bit dishearting when they tell you, someone can do something like this move 1300 miles and its cool. It's not the theft of the car/tools that gets me. it's the forged POA and other forged DOCS that bothers me.
