Planning to replace the steering column shroud on my 110 ex mod. looks straight forward, 4 bolts. Looks like i can order through RN, two pcs and a few bolts. Easy enough right? but then again ive found nothing to be easy on an old vehicle. thanks

You mean the plastic top and bottom pieces that fit over the ignition and other switches?

It isn't bad, but the screws that came out of mine were not all the same, two types I think, and different lengths. It can be a bit of work to get it fitted over the switches correctly, and I think it will need to have the steering wheel removed.

Yea the two pc’s, steering wheel off, seriously? i thought you could unscrew, take off the old and put on the new one. Why would they make it in two pc’s

It needs to fit over the switches in the two pieces. Only one of them actually fits through the hole without it having a separate top and bottom. I am not sure you need the wheel off, but I'm pretty sure it makes it much easier.

I took mine off w/o removing the wheel, cant remember if that part was a pain or not. Worst part that i recall was the foam tape holding it together up near the binnacle.

pro-tip: If you have tape on it like I did, and dont have any goo gone on the shelf, dont use acetone. I thought a just a little wouldn't hurt...it did. Very smooth now. 👍

I was able to remove mine without taking the steering wheel off, mostly because I couldn't get the steering wheel off.

I think my four bolts were the same, but if not, just remember which one came from where. I used the opportunity to clean out 22 years of dust, and replace the foam up front, which has limited cold air blowing through at speed. I would rate it a one beer job.

Good to hear, then it will take me two beers. I put some new MUD side mirrors on last weekend and what I thought was going to be a 20mn job lasted an hour.

I've done it both ways. It's a lot easier if you pull the steering wheel, but in my experience you need a puller to get the wheel off.

NW, I did not find removal of the OEM wheel all too difficult. No special tools needed. Took about 5-10 minutes. Don’t forget to reattach the locking screws when reinstalling it.

Very easy to remove and replace. Steering wheel can stay. I’ve done many times to work on anything behind dash panel or electrical stuff. You’ll have to unscrew the starter switch from lower piece. Other switches have rubber gasket that pops out easily. Careful not to pull too hard on switches... the brass retainer bolt is soft and strips easily.
